No one disputes that the military should, and does follow orders, but that doesn't mean that people in the military don't have opinions about the justness or unjustness of a war.

We certainly entered Vietnam out of fear of communism, but it was an irrational fear with respect to Ho and domino theory.
"The necessaries of life occasion the great expense of the poor. They find it difficult to get food, and the greater part of their little revenue is spent in getting it. The luxuries and vanities of life occasion the principal expense of the rich, and a magnificent house embellishes and sets off to the best advantage all the other luxuries and vanities which they possess. ... It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion."

Congress' intelligence heads: Taliban stronger - Yahoo! News

WASHINGTON (AP) The leaders of the congressional committees said Sunday they believed that the Taliban had grown stronger since President Barack Obama sent 33,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan in 2010.
The pessimistic report by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., challenges Obama's own assessment last week in his visit to Kabul that the "tide had turned" and that "we broke the Taliban's momentum."
IMO, the issue involves strategy, alone. The Kabul-centric/Karzai-centric strategy is at odds with Afghanistan's history, tribal realities, and institutional foundation. The underlying assumption that Afghanistan can succeed through a strong central government headed by an individual whose own legitimacy is suspect among many in Afghanistan is badly flawed. Whether the surge comprised the 33,000 troops put in place or the larger 40,000 figure some commanders had sought missed the larger strategic problem. As a result, the messy outcome would likely have been essentially the same regardless of which option had been chosen and arguably the cost of the latter option would have been higher despite a similar outcome.

Your wrong....People do that...That is who I was responding to......Please don't preach to me about the military......I was there 21 years........Of course people in the military have opinions....They are human beings after all, but you never hear them bitch about why we were there.......They would bitch about not winning but that is about it........
