The country is in deep doo doo, no question. Unemployment is much higher than advertised. Fewer than half of recent college grads have jobs that reflect their level of education. The rest are either unemployed or flipping burgers (or similar). The high school dropouts, and there are a lot of them, are pretty much unemployable. What are they doing? Meanwhile, since fewer are paying taxes, being unemployed and all, and since the feds have been on a spending spree for decades now, we seem to be acquiring something of a debt.

The Congress is dysfunctional, totally tied up in knots with hyperpartisan lack of willingness to do anything that makes the dreaded other side look good, regardless of what is needed for the country.

and we're looking for a superman to ride his white horse into the White House and set it all right. It ain't gonna happen, folks. No one person is going to get us out of the doldrums we're in now.
I couldn't agree more...our congress is inept and powerless.

Go to any of your public representatives websites and see if there is a section for laws they repealed. I don't believe you will see it. Most have a list of laws proposed...republican and democrat. We made a political society where we ask our politicians what law did you pass instead of what law did you repeal. We want them to take our freedom and guide our lives. We want them to expand the government and bring us to the promise land instead of the free market.

You've got it wrong. We do not expect Government to be the solution to the problem, at least not as you characterize it. Government IS the problem. Obama wants massively more government. Obama, and his supporters, ARE the problem.

When government stops trying to fix the problem, the problem will start to fix itself. Of course, that means less redistribution, and a smaller government teat. The teat-suckers will not like that.

that is a misrepresentation. we think that government is a large part of the problem; and so if you reduce or get rid of the ways in which government is holding us back, then the economy will surge ahead.

Is there a point to this diatribe?

You seem to be misinformed. Obama and the left are the ones who think government is the solution to the problem, as the $800 billion stimulus demonstrated. Changing the president will result in a reduction in government regulation and interference in the private sector (at least that's what we are hoping), and hopefully a reduction in government spending.

If you read it, it says we will not fix our economy problems by just electing a new leader or keeping the old one this fall.

Then what it says is incorrect. While changing leaders is no guarantee of success, to not change this one is a guarantee of failure.

Agreed. I am not a big fan of Obama's economic "plan". But I do believe we need a massive overhaul in our govenment. Our economy is getting picked apart by uncertainty and regulation. We need to clean up the way our polical system does business with our businesses.

    I can't speak for Republicans, but I would promote a 3rd, 4th, and 5th party.
