Mexico Seized 68,000 Guns Traceable to U.S.

Gun trade will obviously increase criminal activity on both sides together with the flow of drugs and illegal immigrants.

(WASHINGTON) — The government said Thursday that 68,000 guns recovered by Mexican authorities in the past five years have been traced back to the United States.

The flood of tens of thousands of weapons underscores complaints from Mexico that the U.S. is responsible for arming the drug cartels plaguing its southern neighbor. Six years of violence between warring cartels have killed more than 47,000 people in Mexico.

Yeah those federal laws preventing Americans from doing that or the Mexican laws that make said possession illegal are really effective. Combine that with all the fast and furious firearms and we have a real donkey screw. I guess no one has figured out that people who can import and export billions of dollars of blow can also traffic in firearms rather easily

    From the article:
For more than a year, ATF has been reeling from accusations that some of its agents in Arizona were ordered by superiors to step aside rather than intercept illicit loads of weapons headed for Mexico.
So long as gun haters would use stories like this to piss on the 2nd Amendment, its always important to point out that new laws wouldn't have prevented this when the laws on the books are being ignored.

Why would the ATF superiors ever issue such an order?

I wonder how many of those guns are from the Fast and Furious operation?

Border control is a two way street. Its not just the US that is responsible for securing the US/Mexican border its also Mexico's responsibility too. I seriously ****en doubt that cartels are going through the check points with as ****load of guns. Has it occured to these idiots that if millions of people can sneak into the US then wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that millions of poeple can sneak into Mexico?

The 2nd amendment haters can eat a dick. Mexico's problem's with cartels do not warrant our elected officials ****ting on our constitutional rights.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

Most of these guns as documented are from defected Mex Army, that have joined up with cartels and taken their American made weapons given them by our government....NOT some shady actions taken by gun dealers.

Certainly makes it obvious why operations like Fast & Furious were contemplated. Too bad they were run so poorly.
"The necessaries of life occasion the great expense of the poor. They find it difficult to get food, and the greater part of their little revenue is spent in getting it. The luxuries and vanities of life occasion the principal expense of the rich, and a magnificent house embellishes and sets off to the best advantage all the other luxuries and vanities which they possess. ... It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion."

Re: Mexico Seized 68,000 Guns Traceable to U.S.

guns are getting there because the cartels want them.i know some peopledown in fort bliss and the majority of what they are finding are military grade weapons from foreign countries, weapons that cant be bought by civilians in the united states.

also take note if the us stopped 100% ofall gun trafficking to mexico, the crime wont stop,in south america the second largest manufacturor of black market untraceable guns, also known as brazil.the largest maker of untrackable guns is austria, which has been known for making counterfeit glocks and smuggling them to different countries for profit.

so its very safe to say us guns are not the only option for drug cartels, and creating any gun restrictions in america wont stop it at all.after all banning drugs obviously stopped drug users, banning liquor stopped people from drinking, and every other ban we have put into place has obviously worked

So let's stop it by legalizing all recreational drugs so disputes among the recreational drug industry can be resolved by the legal system rather than by the use of lethal weapons.
Also, we need to legalize recreational drugs and prostitution.

F&F was a scheme to increase support for more gun laws directed against Americans. Its like the idiotic forward trace that the ATF did under clinton

the ATF would go to gunshops and record every sale of scary looking firearms. Not because the owner had been implicated in a crime. Not because the gun itself was used in a crime. Merely to create a database so when ATF toadies testified in congress they would say that "assault style weapons were traced far more than other guns" and the turds in the press would pretend that meant there was more criminal use of these guns. Fortunately, when the GOP congress took over, this sort of crap was reigned in by threats of budgetary cuts

BTW THe raid on the kooky Davidians was done right before ATF budget issues were up before congress-the ATF was trying to justify their existence so they staged this big raid hoping it would make them look useful
