Newest Michigan museum showcases racist artifacts [W:103]

Show us any popular white comedian who can go on stage and make fun of black culture.

Starts at about 1:30. My favorite line is at the beginning "Somebody's been studying colored commentary at the Magic Jonson Institute" - Brilliant.

I posted a few other links with white comedians in front of black audiences etc. All of which show its "context" and not so much whatever invented form of consistency you came up with. Wait, why don't you do us both a favor, instead of claiming you built this country with your menial position at some no-name company, why don't you join us in the 21st century and pretend, just pretend, that the internet exists. Once you do that, look up "white comedian makes fun of black people" - you'll be surprised at the number of white comedians we've let live even after they've committed the o-so-serious crime of making fun of "black culture".

I don't know if I can stand to go to this museum. If I'm ever in Michigan, I'll decide.

I've read that skinhead/neo nazis go the Holocaust museum and get sexually arouse.

It's not clear what the tone/point of the Michigan museum is -- if we do not study history, we are destined to repeat it. If this is an academic study of American racism, roots, causes, practices etc and if they can tie old racism to modern day birthism and other types of modern attacks on blacks and minorities in power, then I support it.

If the museum is a collection started by people wishing to relive those days, I say we burn it down.

I saw him live in Chicago.

One of my favorite lines... "I have never said the n-word.......... into a microphone."

Interesting museum. Have to check it out sometime.

We need more museums like this as a constant reminder.

I agree with this point.

History is history, and we'd be damned wise to learn from it.

I was naive enough to believe there shouldn't be any racist artifacts available from our era.

Racism is pretty different in recent decades -- I hate to mention it in what is, so far, a very nice, polite thread (on account of it's gonna raise some ire) but most of the outright, blatant, unapologetic racism I see these days is against white people. This is not an accusation, but just a question: is this evolution of racism addressed in the exhibits?

I like the concept of the museum and I would go to it, and take my nieces. I think it would a sad experience, but it's something worth learning about.

I would also like to see more Old Western and Native American history museums. The history is kind of fascinating to me, but I really don't know all the different tribes or their beliefs and history.
