Man Beaten By Mob, Arrests Expected Today

I read the story and overall, I would wait to say if this is a hate crime as such a crime is about the reason the act was done. However, I will say that these people are a-holes and a through investigation should be done. If this is in fact a hate crime, all of those people should go to jail.

Shouldn't there be an investigation by Justice to say for sure? I mean if it were a black resident, and twenty white guys, or better yet twenty "white hispanics" beat the guy into a near coma, with weapons, FBI would be swarming....No?

Crap. Finally I found a "current event" thread that had nothing to do with Martin/Zimmerman. I was getting ready to post what a horrific thing to have happened, and comment about the "mob mentality" when... duh... it really IS a Martin/Zimmerman thread wrapped with a disguise and a bow. :2mad:

Justice is justice. I don't like how your trying to imply that the government cares more about white on black crime than black on white crime.

Edit: But yeah, there should be a through initial investigation and if it gets to the JD then cool.

"But...but...but...there won't be any violence because Trayvon got killed!"

I wonder what level of ape-****ness the Libbos would be at, were this a black dude that got his has kicked by 20 white people. Anyone wanna take a guess?

Why not? Because J-Mac is exactly right?

He is not implying it... he is saying it. Personally, I agree.

Wow!!! Who could POSSIBLY have see this coming from MILES away? I wonder how many of the assailants look like Obama's son...if...you know..he had a son...

As to "other posters?" 'Tis true. Sometimes the silence is deafening.

Some of us work during the day and don't play on computer at work.

That being said, this was true mob mentality.

As for Martin's parents, they probably appreciate this as much as they did when the New Black Panthers jumped on the bandwagon.

I wish everyone would let this trial go through the judicial system. It is late April now and most likely this trial will run into summer. This could become a very volatile summer.

To some here I suspect this confirms this to them that Zimmerman was innocent

If this wasn't so sad, it would be funny.

Well, now let's see these same posters out there defending Treyvon Martin come in this thread and show the same of Mr. Owens.

Think Eric Holder will dispatch the 'Hate Crimes Unit' to charge these 20 adults? Or even investigate it?

its too bad a couple good old boys with shotguns weren't around

actually they should get 10 years each for felonious assault-minimum

I think its probably attempted murder with a conspiracy charge (premeditation is obvious) so add another 10

use of weapons-add 5

and racial hate crime-another 5

30 years seems about right

Um... your own story says arrests are expected.

Well, I guess this case has no relation to the Martin case--people commited a crime and being arrested -- unlike what happened in the Martin case.

So why the idiotic comment?

Or do you just like posting stories where you can say -- "See, blacks act like animals." ??

I know the racial tensions are very high around here (I live 20 miles from Sanford). I was not aware that they were that high all over the country.

They arent, idiots come in all shapes sizes and colors.

This is a horrible crime that definitely seems like its racially motivated if true. What else can really be said.

Also besides some other idiots most objective people and people I talk to in real life dont think race played a large issue in the Martin case and it certainly isnt what concerns them. They are all concerned, myself included how "if" true Zimmerman got to go home that night with his gun and without being drug tested etc. They all want a trail not guilt or innocence, but a trail.

I guess you have a hard time seeing that the Martin case there is at least a colorable claim of lawful action by the defendant while the wilding assholes who attacked this man have none

Several have pointed out that the Martin/Zimmerman case attracted Sharpton, Jackson et al.

So why hasn't this case attracted Limbaugh, Boortz, Savage et al? It is an OBVIOUS hate crime - why does nobody speak up about it?

Why not? Because J-Mac is exactly right?

Actually he is incorrect. According to FBI stats in 2010, there were 6,628 hate crimes (FBI — FBI Releases 2010 Hate Crime Statistics). Of those, 18.4% were black. When one includes the fact that blacks make up only ~13% of the population, they are being convicted on a greater scale than whites who committed 58.6% of the crimes, but make up ~72.4% of the population (USA QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau).

Edit: Thus, if the government cares more about white on black hate crimes than black on white, then why is it that blacks are prosecuted for hate crimes more often than whites?

Probably more. I wouldn't be surprise to see a couple of ex cons in that rowdy bunch

Sharpton or Jessie showing up?

I was thinking Oxcy Rush or maybe Buchanan would be demonizing this, more their side of the street.

I suppose if Mobile had a history of suppressing the white man I'd agree more stink needs to be made, afterall we can't let people going around beating white folks for no good reason.

I think you would have to be a very simple soul to think there won't be some backlash after Trayvon. Not saying it is justified and not saying we know all that happened before the beating, odd to think there is no history to this, that it was the first time kids played in the street and not sure what the 'fussing' actually was.

But now would be a good time for the 'white' whiners to do as they said with the Trayvon case and wait for a few more facts before rending garments.

That ain't as much fun as kicking up a premature fuss and demanding equal time from the President.

Yeah, Jesse and Sharpton wouldn't show up, they don't really care about justice, only how much publicity they can get and camera time, while supposedly supporting their race who constantly murder each other, but you never hear them talk about that, only when Whitey is involed. That's all they care about....Destroy whitey and personal greedy, selfish gratification.

No doubt arrests will be made shortly, and charges will soon follow.

and yet, how long did it take for there to be an arrest and charges against George Zimmerman?

exactly.

The people who committed this crime are guilty of racism and attempted murder. No one else. Blaming Obama is a bit silly. Pointing fingers at Jackson and Sharpton (as much as i can't stand the racist sob's) is not appropriate. I could see pointing the finger at the NBPP because they have been calling for violence exactly like this. This is a matter of holding the men who committed the crime responsible not pointing fingers at others no more than if it were reversed.

I will say that if Sharpton and Jackson don't speak out against this I think that they are hypocrites, but that is as far as I will go with it. I'd like to see this could even a third of the attention of Trayvon but it wont. Media doesnt work that way.

Uhh, Zimmerman was in the wrong and this mob was in the wrong. I am as liberal as they come and I am not seeing the point of the commentary in the OP.

The bulk of the rage surrounding the Martin/Zimmerman case, though, didn’t come from it being a racially motivated crime. Racially motivated crimes happen every day. The rage came from the AUTHORITIES’ perceived inaction and the belief that if the shooter had been black and the deceased were non-black then the police would have treated it differently.

the cops believed it was self defense

pretty hard for the pack of thugs to claim that

I wasn't arrested when I shot someone, i was questioned after waiving my rights for 2 hours

then a cop gave me a ride home

why

1) I called the police

2) I told them where I was

3) I gave them my name

4) three witnesses I didn't see confirmed what I told the cops

5) the one mugger who wasn't shot lied and then in lockup told another inmate that he and his buddy had tried to mug someone

so what I said checked out and the cops knew I was telling the truth

sure a couple left-wingers whined that the two muggers were arrested and I was not

they were idiots

we don't know how wrong Zimmerman was

1) bad judgment

2) bad tactics

3) racist hatred

4) desire to kill

all could be possible

none could be

hard to say without more evidence
