Military Cancels Ted Nugent Performance Citing Violent Rhetoric About Obama

LOL....Theodore in one story claimed he covered himself in human waste to get a 4-F, another time claimed he used crystal meth to get the 4-F ...whatever the case, he is a draft dodger and always will be.

snopes.com: Ted Nugent Dodged the Draft?

If this is from 1967 thru 1972, why at the bottom of the form the "Date Prepared" is 3/14/07? Why is there a 30+ year difference? Doesn't make sense.

Anyway, we've all heard about his "soiling himself" to avoid the draft.

Nugent spoke his feelings and he's paid the price. What is it you want from him now?

So what if there is? Seems no matter what the military is in charge here. Evidenty they sold the tickets when there was going to be no concert with Ted Nugent...sounds like false advertising to me. You can sue the government you know.

Concerts get cancelled all the time, provided the people who paid for tickets get a refund no harm is done to them, no opportunity to sue\

So the Military is okay with fighting for our freedoms but not with Nugent exercising his Constitutional free speech rights? Got it.

Core values of the US army:

Loyalty
Bear true faith and allegiance to the U.S. constitution, the Army, and other soldiers.
Be loyal to the nation and its heritage.

Duty
Fulfill your obligations.
Accept responsibility for your own actions and those entrusted to your care.
Find opportunities to improve oneself for the good of the group.

Respect
Rely upon the golden rule.
How we consider others reflects upon each of us, both personally and as a professional organization.

Selfless Service
Put the welfare of the nation, the Army, and your subordinates before your own.
Selfless service leads to organizational teamwork and encompasses discipline, self-control and faith in the system.

Honor
Live up to all the Army values

Integrity
Do what is right, legally and morally.
Be willing to do what is right even when no one is looking.
It is our "moral compass" an inner voice.

Personal Courage
Our ability to face fear, danger, or adversity, both physical and moral courage.

Theodore Anthony "Ted" Nugent is the worst posterchild for these above mentioned values.

Almost everything he does in life (from his canned hunts, illegal hunting and criminal convictions for them, his draftdodging, his anti-female rethoric, his lack of understanding what "moral" actually means) shows his total lack of most if not all of the core values of the US army.

Especially the concepts of respect and integrity are totally alien to the man.

It is, when it's the government using it as punishment for political comments made in public.

Is it? I think it is the army deciding that they do not want a musician playing at their concert who does not respect or honor the core values of the US army and clearly has not shown that to the commander-in-chief of that army.

Wait, you're under the impression that a private company is allowed to refuse or terminate a citizens services because of speech they deem inappropriate, but not federally funded institutions? I'm afraid you're mistaken.

Is Nugent employed by the government? Did he sign any kind of agreement concerning what he would say publically?

Of course he didn't.

His rights are being abused, just like Juan Williams' right were abused when he was fired from NPR.

The better question, did he sign any sort of contract stipulating that his services weren't terminable under any circumstance?

Of course he didn't.

NPR is not legally obligated to retain any employee they do not wish to keep. Your understanding of the the 1st amendment is hideously flawed beyond any hope of repair.

I guess Ubama’s talk about knives and guns, getting in faces, hitting back twice as hard, hand to hand combat and punishing his enemies was just empty rheteric but Nugent meant it literally...LMFAO!!!

Gotta love lefty logic.

First, if you think Obama (never heard of Ubama but I guess silly wordgames to insult your opponent is normal republican tactics showing their ugly little faces again) actually meant that he wanted to bring knives and guns than you would be even more illogical than most lefty logic.

If a gun wielding hunter like Ted Nugent talks about Obama sucking on his machine gun that is a little bit more than political rethoric IMHO.

But they were providing the venue. And since it was government property they had the right to cancel Nugents act.

Why are you still crying about Nugent? Don't tell me he's your dad, too. LOL

Not only that, but he's one of the worst hypocrites around.

I would bet my house on the fact that if George Bush were still president, and a left wing performer had been cancelled by the army after making even joking threats against the presidents life, he'd support that decision to the hilt.

Here's how butthurt he was over the faux controversy over Common being invited to the white house.

So, when he said, "burn Bush", that's supposed to be some sorta harmless metaphor?

Oh and his signature is just hilarious.

The saying "those who live in a glass house shouldn't throw stones..."

well... I give you.

Judaism isn't a religion. Sorry.

US military culture has taken a distinctive turn to the left under Obama.

'Rock Beyond Belief' brings military atheists together at Fort Bragg - News - Stripes

Living on base is and has always been different than living in the civilian world. Actually everything you need is right on base and you don't ever really need to leave. But it has different laws and customs.
In the civilian world you can let your yard go to crap and most of time nobody going to say a word to you, try that living in base housing.
You almost feel like you are living in a different country.

To those who get this, you are awesome.

There is no Constitutional right to a government job

I'm not saying management did the right thing by firing him, but that had absolutely nothing to do with his Constitutional rights. Your interpretation of the 1st Amendment is so far off-base it's not even funny.

Forget his interpretation of the 1st amendment, his interpretation of how employment works is out of this ****ing world.

I do not see the equivelency in comparing Nugent to such as Juan Williams. Juan was as a commentator in all venues. Nugent was hired to perform in concert as a musician, but as we all know, has become outspoken as a political commentator.

I despise Obama. I think he is the most corrupt and inept President ever. But if I go around saying such in the news, and at venues such as the NRA, I have to expect that my employment opportunities will now be evaluated both on whatever musical talent I have, as well as my desire to have a big political mouth.

None of Nugent's rights have been violated. Not a one. Were this five years ago, and some loud-mouthed liberal musician had gone off on Bush, I would have had no problem had they lost opportunities to perform for our troops as well.

And let's be real with Nugent here. If not for his loud political views, he's Cat Scratch Fever history. His music was toast long ago.

Oh but it gets so much better Hatuey, here's what he had to say over this:

http://www.debatepolitics.com/break...loyees-over-liberal-views.html#post1060113417

Republican Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich suggested at a Fox News forum hosted by Mike Huckabee in South Carolina on Saturday that it would be a good idea to fire federal employees for being too liberal. Federal law, on the other hand, says Gingrich’s plan would be illegal.

That makes me want to vote for him even more.

Oh it just gets better and better :lamo :lamo :lamo

How many times are you going to post comments out of context? This make, two.

I never said there is; but nevermind what I realy said. Right?

If you didn't actually mean that, then it's even worse, as there's no legitimate case you can make for Williams' Constitutional rights being violated.

As if apdst EVER makes a legitimate case.

The govt. is under no obligation to hire a Black Power or White Supremacist band.

nor are they obliged to hire Ted Nugent. We hire who we want to hire.
