An oversimplification, if not outright dishonest don't you think?

When I drive by the trailer park and see big new 4x4 trucks and SUV's, when the person in line paying with food stamps is busy texting on their iPhone... it's not a matter of not having enough money to eat, it's a lack of self control and a skewed sense of importance. Probably with a bit of 'buy the good stuff, we can get government to buy the necessities' thrown in.

Hmm, what happened to your original response? It was much more out there and bizarre.

Please provide proof that every single person on food stamps is buying expensive cars and texting on their iphone.

Because saying that every one of them do is dishonest as well.

And since our public transportation absolutely sucks, how do you expect these working poor to get around to their jobs if they don't have their own car? And having a smartphone is cheaper than having a computer and a home modem or a land line. How do you expect them to keep in touch with their boss without a cellphone?

In this modern technological age, a car and a cellphone are necessities. That's not their fault.
Also, we need to legalize recreational drugs and prostitution.

Why do so many people have reading comprehension problems? Can you point to where I said or even hinted that it was 'every single person'? Take all the time you need, but I'll give you a bit of help, I didn't do either.

Yes, more of the liberal excuses. Hard to imagine I'd see this sort of stuff so often on this forum.

It's simply amazing humanity didn't fade away and cease to exist on this planet without all these things that are 'necessities' for most of our existance.

Did I exaggerate to make a point? Yes. Since I didn't provide a reference that should have been obvious. Did you respond to the point? Not really. Instead, you chose to blather on about a group of people unrelated to the point. What more is there to say about it until you address it?

Then your anecdotal evidence of people with food stamps and cars do not apply.

You're right. It's a much better idea to not expect those who are working low paying jobs or without any jobs at all who are on food stamps to have cars of their own.

Of course, then they wouldn't be able to get from their homes to their work, which means they couldn't gain or keep any employment.

But that's conservative thinking for you, I suppose.

Yeah, which is why I said in "this modern, technical society" they are necessities. Way to prove your own lack of reading comprehension there.

And don't forget, conservatives aren't big fans of mass transit, either, so these people are just stuck walking or riding a bike, even if it is 20-30 miles to work.

Huh? So because some people do live within their means that are on food stamps, then all the rest can be discounted? Fine lack of logic on that one.

Every day I find a new brick wall around here.

Yes, I understand you appear to be joining the ranks of those that see a car and a smart phone as 'rights', and are incapable of understanding that it is possible to live life and earn a living without them.

Of course, the fact that people can freely move about to where there is work, is irrelevant eh? Yeah, don't bother, I've heard the excuses for that one too: 'how can they move if they have no money' and 50 other ones. It's sad and pathetic when people do not take responsibility for their own lives, and do not take whatever steps are necessary to ensure they make enough money to support themselves and their family.

Yeah, that is SO true... and must be why you can get on the subway or a bus in any major city and find conservatives... Because they aren't big fans and so hate public transportation.
