Let's get real here. The Act only provides a 180 day statute of limitations, which is pretty damned short by any standard. The reason the Act was needed is that the SC held that the 180 day period started to run when the EMPLOYER made the decision to discriminate. Now how in the **** is a woman supposed to know that? A woman could work for a company for 10 years and only then discover that she's been paid half what her male cooworkers are making. According to the SC she can go pound sand because her statute of limitations ran almost nine years prior. It's absurd and Republicans should be ashamed of themselves for opposing the law.
That is so figgin lame. When you take a job, are you "forced" to take it, to then wonder how much you are going to be paid in your first paycheck ? Your spin reflects all that is wrong with this discrimination crappola. Thank God SCOTUS had the sense to put a realistic time frame on the extent to which some second-rate employee can file some absurd "I was worth more than I agreed to be paid" lawsuit.

Typical liberal BS. Equal outcomes, not equal opportunity.

the more important question is.... why don't you know the answer yourself?

did you not pay attention to the issue , but instead choose to buy into the Democrats political propaganda?

it's all good.. i'm sure quite a few people know why the GOP opposed the act... myself included.... but i'm completely comfortable leaving you to believe that Republicans are simply waging a war on women.

were the stupidity of such rhetoric/propaganda not so damn entertaining, i'd probably attempt to correct you.

Vice President Joe Biden said tonight that what he called a Republican-led effort to rollback the rights of women is "real" and will "intensify."
"I think the 'war on women' is real," Biden told MSNBC's "The Ed Show," deploying the politically-charged phrase for the first time on the national stage.
"And look, I'll tell you when it's going to intensify - the next president of the United States is going to get to name one, possibly two or more, members to the Supreme Court," he added.
It's just another diversion, political cover, which is necessary when you can't run on your record of accomplishment.

The federal courts are paid for in part by taxpayers and in part by litigants. I don't think that establishing a common sense statute of limitations is going to break the bank.

The purpose of the courts is to dispense justice. If the rules are such that justice isn't being done, I don't think we're getting our money's worth.

The luxuries and vanities of life occasion the principal expense of the rich, and a magnificent house embellishes and sets off to the best advantage all the other luxuries and vanities which they possess. ... It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion."

As it happens, I know the answer. The answer is that Republicans are more concerned about currying favor with corporations than they are about protecting womens' rights.

that's not the answer.. that's your perception.

I don't find your perception to be credible.

If that were true at all (and I doubt it) why would the democratic party not use the same weapon that the republicans have used again and again and again and again in the previous 2 presidential campaigns? The republicans are the world champions of fear-mongering to achieve electoral gain.

I'm still waiting for an alternative explanation that passes the laugh test.

Aren't you even a little embarrassed saying that a major political party is waging war on more than 50% of the electorate? If we ask you and Biden who else the Republicans are at war with it would probably be at least 75% of the population. Heck, thinking about why waste time with this campaign how about Republicans wage war on 99% of Americans.
