Biden: 'War on Women' is Real, Will Intensify

Clearly, this is the only way anybody will report anything Biden has to say.

Just stupid it up - and it'll be reported.

Biden is the king of stupid-talk.

(although there's clearly a few people vying to take the crown from him)

There is something, now, of which I am reminded.

Back in 1988, after George Bush Sr. had secured the nomination, attention turned to who he might choose as his running mate.

A lot of press attention was focused on a young senator from Indiana, who was described as a “Robert Redford look-alike”, and compared to JFK, and generally built up to be some sort of brilliant political prodigy.

I don't know how much influence all this press attention had, but ultimately, that was who Bush picked as his running mate. No sooner was Bush's decision announced, then the press immediately turned brutally against Dan Quayle, and for the rest of the campaign, and after that, during his entire service as Vice President, we were treated to every effort on the part of the press to depict him as puerile, incompetent and unintelligent.

By the time the Bush/Quayle administration came to its end, the press had successfully created a very negative public image for Dan Quayle.

Without anything near the same sort of effort on the media's part against Joe Biden, he seems to be doing a good job, all by himself, of creating for himself the same kind of public image that the press worked so hard to create for Dan Quayle.

Joe Biden has been in politics a lot longer than Quayle was (36 years to Quayle's approx. 11, as per Wiki.). There's no comparisan whatsoever. If you were a liberal or progressive, you'd appreciate his Senate record. It's all relative and in the eye of the beholder.

Oh? And what are Biden's accomplishments per se? Living in MD for 20 years, he has been a gas bag for that entire time.

I do appreciate Joe Biden on many levels. And I also genuinely like him and have empathy for his struggles, which most Americans, thankfully, have never experienced. But this doesn't change the fact that he is a human gaffe-machine with a reckless mouth.

What Biden did:

• Committee on Foreign Relations (chairman)
o As Chairman of the full committee Biden is an ex officio member of each subcommittee.
* Committee on the Judiciary
o Subcommittee on Antitrust Competition Policy and Consumer Rights
o Subcommittee on Crime and Drugs (chairman)
o Subcommittee on Human Rights and the Law
o Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security, and Refugees
o Subcommittee on Technology Terrorism and Homeland Security
* Caucus on International Narcotics Control (co-chairman)

Biden has been involved in crafting many federal crime laws over the last decade, including the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, also known as the Biden Crime Law. He also authored the landmark Violence Against Women Act of 1994 (VAWA), which contains a broad array of measures to combat domestic violence and provides billions of dollars in federal funds to address gender-based crimes. In 2000, the Supreme Court ruled that the section of VAWA allowing a federal civil remedy for victims of gender-motivated violence exceeded Congress' authority and therefore was unconstitutional.[14] Congress reauthorized VAWA in 2000 and 2005.[15][16] In March 2004, Biden enlisted major American technology companies in diagnosing the problems of the Austin, Texas-based National Domestic Violence Hotline, and to donate equipment and expertise to it.[17][13]

As chairman of the International Narcotics Control Caucus, Biden wrote the laws that created the nation's "Drug Czar," who oversees and coordinates national drug control policy. In April 2003 he introduced the controversial Reducing Americans' Vulnerability to Ecstasy Act, also known as the RAVE Act. He continues to work to stop the spread of "date rape drugs" such as Rohypnol, and drugs such as Ecstasy and Ketamine. In 2004 he worked to pass a bill outlawing steroids like androstenedione, the drug used by many baseball players.[13]

Biden's legislation to promote college aid and loan programs allows families to deduct on their annual income tax returns up to $10,000 per year in higher education expenses. His "Kids 2000" legislation established a public/private partnership to provide computer centers, teachers, Internet access, and technical training to young people, particularly to low-income and at-risk youth.[18]

Biden is also a long-time member and current chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. In 1997, he became the ranking minority member and chaired the committee from June 2001 through 2003. When Democrats re-took control of the Senate following the 2006 elections, Biden again assumed the top spot on the committee in 2007. His efforts to combat hostilities in the Balkans in the 1990s brought national attention and influenced presidential policy: traveling repeatedly to the region, he made one meeting famous by calling Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic a "war criminal." He consistently argued for lifting the arms embargo, training Bosnian Muslims, investigating war crimes and administering NATO air strikes. Biden's subsequent "lift and strike" resolution was instrumental in convincing President Bill Clinton to use military force in the face of systematic human rights violations.[19] Biden has also called on Libya to release political prisoner Fathi Eljahmi.[20]

In November 2006, Biden and Leslie Gelb, President Emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, released a comprehensive strategy to end sectarian violence in Iraq. Rather than continuing the present approach or withdrawing, the plan calls for "a third way": federalizing Iraq and giving Kurds, Shiites, and Sunnis "breathing room" in their own regions.[22]

LOL...So, without reading every piece of legislation he has promoted, co-authored, wrote, do you think that there are pro's and con's to each?

Chairman ships to committees, and appointments to others I don't consider to be "accomplishments" per se, especially when you consider that like far too many Biden is one of those who stays in the government for too long. He has NEVER been in the private sector. I consider that a problem.

Biden is being a good foot soldier. Hes doing what hes being told to do by the campaign. The bad news is the campaign is completely lying about Romney.
Via Buzzfeed---http://www.buzzfeed.com/coppinskaczynski/obama-campaign-claims-romney-would-outlaw-abortio-5w4p

As the presidential campaign swirls around a war for the allegiance of American women, the Obama campaign is relying on an explosive — and highly questionable — charge to draw pro-choice women into the President's camp: That Mitt Romney would "outlaw abortion" if elected.

The claim first surfaced in a document posted to the campaign's website Wednesday titled, "5 Things You Need To Know About Mitt Romney." The last bullet point — which has been retweeted by Barack Obama and his campaign staffers over the past 24 hours— says, "He'd get rid of Planned Parenthood and outlaw abortion."

A review of the Republican's conflicted abortion record reveals that claim to be a stretch, at best. While Romney has undergone a long, public evolution on this issue over the past two decades — straining, at times, to defend his pro-life credentials to suspicious conservatives — he's never called for an outright federal ban on all abortions.

Rather, Romney's current position advocates overturning Roe v. Wade and allowing states to make their own abortion laws. He has also supported ending federal funding for Planned Parenthood — tough positions to sell in the general election, perhaps, but nowhere near the Obama campaign's characterization.

A Romney aide, evidently unwilling to be drawn into a confrontation on the Democratic turf of abortion rights, declined to comment on whether Romney would "outlaw abortion," but said he wants to end federal funding for Planned Parenthood, not to "get rid of" the group itself.

But when asked whether whether they believe Romney is seeking to outlaw abortion, even the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List demurred.

"Mitt Romney has made clear that he supports a reversal of Roe v. Wade and looks forward to legislatures once again having the ability to limit abortion by law," said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List. "He supports federal action now to end funding for Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider, and any similar organization that performs abortion or offers abortion-related services."

Responding to requests for evidence to back up its claim, a senior Obama aide directed BuzzFeed to a moment in a 2007 CNN Republican primary debate, during which moderator Anderson Cooper posed a hypothetical question to the candidates: If Roe v. Wade were overturned and Congress passed a federal abortion ban, would you sign it?

Romney responded characteristically, attaching a condition before taking the plunge. He said he "would be delighted to sign that bill" — if there were a national consensus on the issue.

"But that's not where we are," he continued, pivoting back to his own platform. "That's not where America is. Where America is is ready to overturn Roe v. Wade and return to the states that authority."

Smear, smear, smear. Hell, it doesnt have to be true. Wonder why they dont just run on their records.

Being a career politician isn't always bad. I like that Biden is from a working class family, has been an advocate for the middle class his whole political career, and rode the commuter train to and from work in DC for years. I get a kick out of most of his blunt comments.

Are courts of law not government entities, or did we somehow get private courts without anybody noticing? Who pays the salaries for these court employees?

Big Oil.

Biden has declared a fatwah on common sense and has launched jihad against rational thought

He'll probably fails since he couldn't identify either.

So do I. I think he's a good and earnest man.

And I'm also grateful that, God willing, he will never be President.

Yeah I am sure Romney reads this board just to get advice from far left Obama fans

He's just reading the advice of far left Romney fans?
