Look at the evidence as we know it. I know the investigator certainly has more evidence than we do. But look at what we do have. Eye witnesses, injuries, ect that support Zimmerman's claims. In order to win the defense only has to convince 1 person out of 12 that there is reasonable doubt that Zimmerman did not commit murder. 1 in 12. Take a look at any realistic pool of potential jurors. You'd be hard pressed to find a group of 12 people, especially with the defense participating in the jury selection, that would all vote for the prosecution. The defense has a strong defense. The prosecutor knows this. If DA brings charges to appease the mob, they are then going to have to deal with the backlash of failing at trial (see casey anthony which happened to be in florida too).
Personally, I dont think the DA is going to do it. I think this is the first step in the letting people down slowly routine. This will put some doubt in people's minds. They let soem time pass and now this. After people react and it dies down a bit, they will gradually keep dropping other hints at no charges until they can safely finally publically announce it.
There's no point in a grand jury. He's confessed to the killing and is claiming self-defense-- it either goes straight to trial or the charges will be dismissed. Grand juries are for deciding whether or not there is enough evidence for an indictment.
Listening to the radio here it sounds like she would have needed a grand jury if they were going to pursue first degree murder charges only (still would if it came to that). I dont think anyone actually things first degree charges would be warranted so it makes sense not to.
It means that Zimmerman won't be charged with murder, although it looks like he is going to be charged with manslaughter as early as this week. I can agree with that. Zimmerman's behavior doesn't warrant murder charges, but he was reckless, and that recklessness led to the death of Martin. So this would be an appropriate route for the system to take.

Look, I understand many people don't give a damn about other people and live their lives as cowardly and self-centrix as possible. That doesn't not make not living in total apathy of others and as a complete coward a criminal offense.

How can they take him to trial about anything without an indictment?
AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.
