Okay, that's your emotional evaluation. It is as devoid of rationality as you claim for those of us who disagree, so no reasonable discussion is possible.

The State has only been involved in murders for a recent short period of our existence. Prior to their involvement murder was a family affair. The Doctor and what's left of his family members would do whatever was necessary to even the score.

I believe the state took over the process to make it more civilized, and in line with our justice system.

Perhaps in line with your justice system. I find that system to be terribly flawed. Family feuds were much more fair.

I watched a family feud while I was in Iraq...basically the McCoys and the Hatfields. One day, one the McCoy boys shot a 11 year old girl in the chest with an AK47. She lived. Good times.
