Obama’s ‘Unprecedented’ Remarks: Is the President Running Against the Supreme Court?

Re: Obama’s ‘Unprecedented’ Remarks: Is the President Running Against the Supreme Cou

Never underestimate the stupidity and perfidy of the half of the shrinking working population who pay no federal income taxes. They live with their hand out, looking for the next federal hand out. Will they vote against their sugar daddy, their lord and master?

Why do you care? The fact that they pay no taxes doesn't cost you anything ... right?

Re: Obama’s ‘Unprecedented’ Remarks: Is the President Running Against the Supreme Cou

I guess that explains Bush's 1,500 page 2007 budget....
Maybe so. I am not quite sure what to do with budgets.

Re: Obama’s ‘Unprecedented’ Remarks: Is the President Running Against the Supreme Cou

Actually, I would love to have this conversation with adults...let me wait til two show up...

for now, I'll just enjoy the show...I noticed the circus was in town...
I thought I told you to run along.

I don't like that they not only don't pay taxes but they have the power to vote to raise mine.

I'm sure they feel the same way about you!

When are you gonna get over the lame ass "Oh yeah!?! Well Bush did it first" responses?

Although I don't always agree with you, I know that you are an intelligent guy. Pointing to Bush all the time makes you look like a child.

It has nothing to do with Bush, but rather it has to do with the hypocrisy of many Obama bashers. Does it not trouble you that they go ape**** over the length of ACA, but never once said a peep about the length of bills (several of which exceeded 1000 pages) during the previous administration? In other words, when I say that Bush had a long bill I'm not criticizing Bush. I recognize that complex legislation sometimes requires a long bill.

Bush is no longer relevant to the conversation and you have not quoted anyone to support the empty claims you're making. You're only making Obama supporters look very foolish.

Of course they genuinely are, but you're reinforcing this fact with every post.

Was there something about "it has nothing to do with Bush" that you didn't understand?

Has it been a rough week for you?

I mean, comparing a budget, which is for ALL of government, to a health care bill (i.e., small fraction of economy)... and at that, failing on the comparison, both by falling short 1200+ pages, and scope covered.

Do you really believe everyone else is so stupid as to fall that?

It is far from the first time you have invoked him.

I am not talking about Bush. I'm talking about the hypocrisy of Republicans who go ape**** over the length of ACA but who never said a peep about the many Republican bills that were nearly as long.

Five of the top 10 longest bills in the past decade were written by Republicans. In fact, the House health care bill is a mere 68 words shorter than a transportation measure introduced in '05 by Alaska Republican Rep. Don Young.

Here's the top 10, with GOP bills in bold:

1. 314,900 words, "Affordable Health Care for American Act," 2009, Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.)

2. 314,832 words, "Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users," 2005, Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska)

3. 314,573 words, "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act," 2009, Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.)

4. 296,111 words, "Consolidated Appropriations Act," 2005, Rep. James Kolbe (R-Ariz.)

5. 276,849 words, "Consolidated Appropriations Act," 2008 Rep. Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.)

6. 274,559 words, "No Child Left Behind Act," 2001, Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio)

7. 258,205 words, "National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008," Rep. Ike Skelton (D-Mo.)

8. 250,286 words, "Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008," Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.)

9. 246,984 words, "Consolidated Appropriations Resolution," 2003, Rep. Bill Young (R-Fla.)

10. 226,492 words, "Energy Policy Act," 2005, Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas)

Step away from the Bush.

So the right can use past Presidents as a reference but the left can't? Seems to go with the rest of the one sided rules the GOP expects everyone to follow...

When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.

Dodge the issue? Man, you keep the irony train a rolling.

Where is the Ubama's administration budget?....Oh snap...there is none. Just the way they like it. Wouldn't want to stifle there redistribution of wealth.

Re: Obama’s ‘Unprecedented’ Remarks: Is the President Running Against the Supreme Cou

Adam, if you would have said " I recognize that complex legislation sometimes requires a long bill." and then given examples of the top ten as you did later, you would not have come across as a petulant child. Busting on bush and then showing an example that does not include the budget of which you spoke, makes you look all the more rediculous.

I don't have an issue with the length of the bill. I have an issue that it was not properly debated in the congress. The length contributed to that, but was not the cause.

The problem I have with Ubamacare is that it is unconstitutional, besides that the whole bill sucks. Otherwise I'm fine with it...

I was speaking to the length only. As to it's Constitutionality.... I agree with you.

Length really doesn't matter if it is unconstitutional.:peace

Well, I'm sorry you see it that way, but I actually didn't criticize Bush at all. I just pointed out that there were plenty of long bills in his administration and no one objected to their length. The one I first referenced isn't on the list, but it was over 1,000 pages (lost the link). Hell, Boener's "No Child Left Behind" was only about 10% shorter, and it obvioiusly covered a much smaller territory.
