the fact is that, considering the number of college students in the USA compared to the number of college students who get shot every year on campus, college shootings are still pretty damn low frequency occurances.

School shooting are pretty high in frequencies. You for the last couple weeks having been throwing hissy fits over this Trayvon Martin death. That was one kid who was possibly killed in self defense. But 7 people die here and it's just hope it goes away on its own? When these attacks are increasing in frequency every year? You are really starting to strike me as the type that only cares when you are told to by the media.

Since mass school shootings are NOT rare and given the victims truly, absolutely innocent victims, there would be MORE justification for hearings - than the rarity of a neighborhood Latino shooting and African-American during a fight between them.

BUT it is too early to know if the President and/or Congress with speak/act or not.

We raise a nation of sheep, complete cowards, who when the wolf comes, instead of fighting shows them thier necks in submission. Then when wolves do what wolves do, what do we do? We find ways to keep sheep from figuring out how to defend themselves....

This shooter apparently said "line up, I am going to kill you all"....shot these people then left, reloaded and came back, this all took place over 5 minutes. once again, we see people lining up for the slaughter and it makes me sick. I feel for these kids I do. But did any of them say "holy ****! that dood just shot 1,2,3,4...." then decide to fight?

OVER 5 MINUTES! how many people would you see shot in a classroom before you did whatever you could to save your life and those around you... We are breeding the fight and self preservation out of our society, and the bodycount will only go up.....

I'd say the reason for the different reactions to the two situations is that the two situations are completely different. Or have I missed a news update? Did the police release the shooter? Is he claiming self defense? Is there a law involved that arguably gave the shooter the right to kill seven people?

oh took the woman into the classroom, but when he realized the administrator was not there, he shot the secretary and ordered the students to line up against the wall. Not all of them cooperated, Jordan said, and so he began shooting.
"I'm going to kill you all," the gunman said, according to CNN affiliate KTLA.
"This was a calculated, cold-blooded execution in the classroom," Jordan said. The suspect "just felt a certain urge to inflict pain on them," he said.

The problem is that this is a real issue taking place over many years in our country that is being ignored because it doesnt help any one politically. The martin case is being publicized and commented on by and exploited by every politician that can get in front of a camera to exploit it even though NHW captains shooting an assaulting teenager in self defense is a relatively low occurance. People are upset largely because Martin is black. If he isnt black this isnt even a news story. Politicians dont give a crap about these school shooting and I want to know why! If a white guy had walked into a school and shot a bunch of black students there would be a media frenzy and every politician under the sun would then be exploiting it. I dont think race was involved in this. And thats probably why noone seems to give a ****.

Yes, I would like to add that your attempt to justify what you originally wrote fails miserably. Obviously you were trying to say that the students, sheeplike, lined up to be executed after they'd been told they were going to be killed. But you just made that up.

As someone pointed out above, politicians almost always comment on these sorts of tragedies. But what would you have them do?

The issues in the Martin case were the lack of an arrest and a controversial self defense law. Those things are actionable.

Right, so until the democratic leadership tells you its ok to support taking action to prevent these types of shootings, which again are occurring more and more each year, then you dont think anything should be done about them.

Also how is self defense controversial? Do you really think people should just roll over and die when someone decides to beat them to death?

I don't think self defense is controversial. I also don't think an armed student body will be any better. Increasing the likelihood of danger doesn't really help IMHO.

Side not: this shooter is Asian. The VT shooter was Asian. There was one more, I forgot the event.

what's going on? is this just coincidence..or is this a reflection of the extreme pressure being put on Asian kids to do well in school...and some just loosing it?

Maybe. I would love to someone examine that possibility. But I suspect it's more complicated than that.
