Arrgggg.

The shooter was korean. I wonder if the people shot were, too. Which is why I am bringing it up.....

Obama said soemthing about the Zimmerman situation because it was getting WAY out of hand due to race and media and sharks smelling blood and maybe he thought speaking about it would ease tensions. WHO KNOWS??
Now we have this situation and Obama needs to zip it except to give condolences.

I'm just saying that the response you've gotten is perfectly in line with your OP and the posts you've made thereafter.

Sure. I agree with you. But this happened today. Wait until it's been a while before you get outraged that there's been no hearings.

Also, I'd like to point out that Congress HAS had hearings about school shootings and violence in the past. It's not as though they don't react to these sorts of events. Whether their reaction is effective is debatable, but I would say the same about most Congressional hearings on such matters.

I have seen far more school shootings than I have shooting by a NHW captain in self defense after being assaulted by a teenager. Rare my ass. School shootings happen multiple times a year. That is far far far too much. Congress should have had multiple hearings on this by now. This shooting happened today, but it isnt the first.

it's quite the deterrent when you know the person you might attack has the resources to adequately defend himself eh?

it's incredibly sad that people flip out and kill people like this... it's even sadder, to me, knowing he should have been put down like the dog he is by someone defending their lives and the lives of those around him... but wasn't... more frustrating than sad, to be honest.

unlike his victims, he'll live out the rest of his life in health... and I find that unacceptable.

It would have to be safe politically and where one can take a stand and not be called on it. Those who depend on popular vote tend to avoid offending huge audiences. The pro steroid voting block is relatviely small and safe to offend.

humans have been killing humans since there have been humans.... and guns have been around quite some time now ( since the 12th century).
hell, this nation was founded by the gun.

You kidding? I'd suggest you look up the history and use of European rapiers. In summary, they were a "gentleman's" accessory. They were commonly used in duels as men in the 18th century France and England had to defend their honor and would kill each other in the street, or in formal duels. Swords were used throughout most of history until the late 18th century for butchering innocents, peasants, etc. In fact, human kind has been butchering each other in various ways since recorded history.

I do believe the current congressional investigation isn't about Trayvon but rather racial profiling. School shootings had their moment in the Congressional sun with the VT shootings, you and Maggie must remember them? Where was the outcry for not facing other social issues then? None? Really? Perhaps that is because those who like to rail on these things were not uncomfortable. Not my ox being gored, no need for my outrage.

While I suppose some 'lily white asses' if I may quote Maggie, are upset so much attention is being given this tragic event in Florida I predict in the end as much gets done as the Congressional hearings for VT did for school shootings.

All shades of ass would agree, a Congressional hearing, be it an all male panel to discuss religious and financial issues about birth control, a hearing on Wall Street Bonuses, or on racial profiling isn't going to do much but inflame a few ranters on all sides of this mess.

i am aware of the history and the rapiers ,ockham but what I mean is that now a gun is more dangerous and common among the society and even high school children that have no idea on how to be gentle have a gun and you see what happens then

guns are less common in the us than they were in our distant past.... there was a time when near everyone had a gun of some sort.

the problem isn't the gun.. it's the mentality of those whom wield them to create tragedies and massacres...it's a mentality that we feed, enable , and coddle.

Just repeated articles about colorado and nevada voting within their states. Or someone proposing a law within those states. You should really follow those links before you post them.

Where are the congressional hearings on this violence?

I think we're founded on a certain ideaology and not on the gun. The gun merely played a role, and contributed to a mythology that we love. But it was not the founding principle we were founded on.

So a Korean man killed 5 supposedly Christian students.

I wonder if the partisans infuriated over the Martin/Zimmerman issue will overlook this one?

Better yet, both should be treated as tragedies, and not used for political gain, imho.
