Kalifornia has idiotic gun control laws. what we do know is that whackos who are intent on perpetrating capital murder can get guns. Sadly the victims did not have weapons

I have only ever met one teacher besides myself that I'd trust with a weapon. The other 99.99 percent of teachers are card carrying socialists, and all that implies.....in California

What you say here is true, but it's not accurate. There's more to the Trayvon Martin case than merely "a man shooting another person possibly in self defense."
Sanford had some sort of racial issues in the recent past. That's why Bill Lee was hired not that long ago. There're questions about whether there was due diligence done in the investigation and questions about what went into the decisions that came afterward.
I think that's part of what sets it apart from almost all of the other comparisons people have wanted to make recently. imho.

    my conjecture:

The whole affair between Z and Martin is just a few pieces of this it seems. imho.

Showing that Zimmerman should be facing charges is just step one.

No matter the outcome of that--if Z faces charges or does not.
Then comes the hard look at the immediate investigations and reactions.

The investigation and surrounding events will receive a cavity search like no other investigation in Sanford history.
The next part that will come is assigning blame, responsibility, and fault.
    For what?
I am just too tempted to think there will be some thing, no matter what.

If it's a hill of beans it will be treated like a hill of beans de facto, but it will be trumpeted loudest at it's boldest expression.
The list of whatever sorts of "counts" of w/e sorts of "misconduct" may be trimmed after that announcement (or the equivalent).

If it's something real, some actual shadiness, heaven help whoever it is because their name(s) may end up in history books.

Maybe the affair will be so clean that a team of investigator investigators won't come up with anything. But the kinds of people who take these high profile tasks would seem to be, in my mind anyway, go-getters. I suspect they will document every thing they can.
I think they will find some thing, though it may be small because, ime, in any group of enough people at any given day at most any given work place there will be someone, who is not following procedure to the letter.

The only question left, imho, is how big of a thing will be found? Where along the spectrum from things like paperwork being mis-filed or not filed in a timely manner to some conspiracy in the government to protect Zimmerman will the thing be?
    I may be wrong.

Like I said, both sides would use this to make political hay. Here is exhibit A.

One that could be addressed, at an early-enough stage, by counseling perhaps.

We're doing that with bullying now. And with domestic violence. "Here's what to watch out for" kinds of things. Seems like if we put school violence front and center, we could do the same thing with kids killing kids in school.
I'm sure they do, but can we read them, know for sure, and know what to do before they act? And I'm not convinced we've been anywhere near successful stopping bullying.

That said, trying to educate and prevent seems reasonable as an approach.

I appreciate what your trying to show here, however, the first link is in virginia. That is not congress.

The second one was congress hearing out a guy who petitioned them. He was the only person to speak and it lasted less than 2 hours. Some senators listening to a man talk for less than 2 hours in over 5 years is not addressing the issue.

senseless tragedy, no more explainable then why a tornado tares apart one house while it leaves the neighbor's house standing.

all we can do is grieve & hope this doesn't happen again.

I could not disagree more. Much more should be done than just hoping people stop shooting up schools.
