Federal judge strikes down part of Wisconsin union law

So Scott Walker may get his ass recalled over his union busting bill, and now key portions of it have been struck down anyway.

Well, Walker will probably be elected again and I'm sure this will be appealed, but you gotta love it.

(Reuters) - A federal judge in Wisconsin on Friday struck down parts of a law restricting public sector union power in the state just hours after a recall election was set for Republican Governor Scott Walker over his support of the controversial union law.U.S. District Judge William Conley in Madison, Wisconsin struck down a part of the law approved by the Republican-led legislature last year that required annual union recertification votes by a majority of members in the unit. He also struck down a provision that made paying of union dues voluntary.

"The necessaries of life occasion the great expense of the poor. They find it difficult to get food, and the greater part of their little revenue is spent in getting it. The luxuries and vanities of life occasion the principal expense of the rich, and a magnificent house embellishes and sets off to the best advantage all the other luxuries and vanities which they possess. ... It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion."

I'll go ahead and sneak in a post before the claims of judicial activism.
