Recall election ordered for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker

MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Embattled first-term Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker will face a recall this spring after an election was ordered Friday following the collection of more than 900,000 signatures in the wake of his push against union bargaining rights.

The Government Accountability Board voted 5-0 to order the recall, a move that has been expected for weeks given the large number of signatures gathered between November and January. It took 540,208 signatures to trigger a recall.
But the petitioning is not over yet. Republicans are still attempting to get enough signatures to recall Democratic Senator Jausch, and also have a campaign going to recall one of their own, Republican Senator Schultz, for going against Walker's agenda.

Anyways, no more delays. The recall is now officially on.

Predictions? I think Walker will survive this election - barely, but I believe that the Senate will flip. However, this November, depending on the turnout, and whichever presidential candidate has the better coat tails in Wisconsin, the Senate could flip back to the Republicans.

Confused yet? Just wait. It's going to get even better. LOL.

Re: Recall election ordered for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker

It was very important that the date was set for the recall election. Until then Walker could receive unlimited funds in his war chest, now election laws kick in. I think Walker has a tough road ahead of him, a political scandal over his term in local politics and his aides being charged with corruption is going to cut into his reputation. His claim that the government worker pension plan was pulling down the state's budget has been refuted, and I see the people not so sure they want to continue down the slash and burn partisan route.

When it comes to the state senate, all politics are local. Coat tails of the President are nice but the rather heavy handed agenda the republicans brought down on the state has had a chilling effect. I see the senate as going democrat and not so sure the people want to have the republicans back in control again. Walker couldn't have pushed his agenda without their help and as a sign of how ruthless the state's Republican politicians are, they are going after one of their own!

Tea Party fans pointed to the take-over in Wisconsin as from the bottom up taking back America. If the Governor and senate go democrat does that mean moderate America says 'thanks but no thanks?'

Couple this recall revolt with Ryan Paul endorsing the Romneycare candidate, does this mean the Tea Party was just a ruse used by a few politicians and/or falling apart and it is every rat for himself?

    just wondering

The trouble with all this recall stuff is that it could put political leaders into a perpetual state of campaigning. If they're basically constantly facing election time, they will never stop focusing on that.

A new poll is out showing Walker losing the recall election. Bear in mind that this poll is from NBC, which is to the left what Rasmussen is to the right. On that basis of that, I am going to stay out on the limb, and still predict that Walker barely survives.

Poll, in PDF format, is here.

Both sides doing what they can to undermine the other side in order to do what they feel their constituents elected them do.I saw no problem with democrats fleeing the state to stop a vote, I saw no problem with the democrats trying to use recall elections to kick out republicans and I see no problem with republicans trying to block those recall elections or trying to do recall elections on democrats.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

I saw a HUGE!!!! problem with them fleeing the state. How on EARTH can any sane person not? They should have been kicked out of Congress on their asses.

Actually, I do, and I disagree with the NBC/Marist poll that came out that shows Walker losing. They are not a very accurate polling firm. For example, in the same poll, they show Democrats beating the Republicans for the Senate seat there by showing Tammy Baldwin against a generic Republican, when Tommy Thompson is much more popular there than the generic candidate.
