Did the press corps ask Obama to comment on the case referenced in this article? Did anybody outside of those in that community even know about that case until this article came out?

No? Well then just maybe it has nothing to do with political expediency and everything to do with how the media controls the flow of information.
Your point is moot. I've already provided an example where the press asked Obama to comment on a case and he refused, and examples where he commented on murders or cases without any prompting by the press.

I heard about the murder of these two teens when it occurred. I'm not from Sarasota, it was national (international) news. Sorry you weren't privy.

I didn't accuse you of anything. But having a link gives better perspective than a selective quote taken without context and used in debate. And my point still stands. The Martin case is different.

The point about the press corps asking Obama to comment and it having "nothing to do with political expediency and everything to do with how the media controls the flow of information" - is what is moot.

Well, the Telegraph article basically said the same thing:

    Ding!
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.
