Cousins admit starting huge Wallow Fire

Remember when John McCain said that it was illegal aliens that started the fire? Remember when many in this forum blamed the fire on illegal aliens? You don't? Then let me refresh your memory:

I am going to call this political bs on your part. McCain said "some fires". Show me where he specifically named the Wallow fire was started by illegal aliens. I spent 30 years in wildland fire. Was in the SW for most of my career. Arizona since 89. I can tell you that there were and are wildfires most likely started by illegal aliens or illegal drug runners. Some wildfire origins can be traced to warming fires along known illegal alien or drug running routes. Many wildfires are stopped before they get large and recieve national attention. Many fires never make it to the paper/tv. We also have had fires spread from Mexico into southern Arizona.

McCain most likely should not have said anything except to say he supports the firefighting effort and LE efforts to catch whoever started the fire. Yet, druring the fire bust, illegal immigration was a major topic in the news. McCain in a round about way was proving support for SB1070.

"On Monday, McCain's office released a statement clarifying the senator's remarks, saying that while he had toured the Wallow fire on Saturday, his comments were referring to blazes in southern Arizona more generally, both now and in years past.

“The facts are clear. For years, federal, state and local officials have stated that smugglers and illegal immigrants have caused fires on our southern border," said Brooke Buchanan, Senator McCain's communications director. "During the press conference on Saturday, Senator McCain was referring to fires on the Arizona/Mexico border, not the Wallow Fire.”

So where does the word "some" equal the Wallow fire. McCain is correct. Some wildfires are started by illegal aliens.
