I've never been a big "people person". I find most people are not worth investing my time in. Besides, "God" and I parted company a little over a decade ago. Something about a breach of contract issue.
I'm not sure you are not trying real hard to be entertaining. As for God, fine. But people need people. What was that about no man being an island?

AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.

    Mine was misuse of resources.

No man can truly be an island all alone, but a smart man exists as part of an archepelago (a loose collection of islands) rather than as part of the mainland.

Not so sure the distinction means that much to me, but as long as you understand a certain amount of interconnectedness we share, OK.

And it doesn't seem to deter any of the crimes that can bring the death penalty.

Moral arguments aside, what are the practical reasons for the death penalty?
Dead people don't commit any more crimes. Dead people don't try to escape. Dead people are no longer a threat to society or their fellow prisoners.

I am in favor of expanding the death penalty to include rapist, child molesters, drug dealers that push thier crap onto kids and anyone who commits premeditated murder or kills someone while committing another felony. Get rid of this "special circumstances" nonsense.

Well there's certainly a solution for that.

We share a certain amount of interconnectedness because there is no other option, Boo. That's why I suggest the archiopelago as the best example of how society should work. Each island is its own separate landmass. The other islands may be closer or further away from the island you're on than another island is. It is possible to make the trip between them when necessary, but also very easy to maintain the separation when that is prefered.

Yeah, but there's already a shortage of ammunition this year; where am I going to come up with 270,000,000 bullets?

There is an easy solution to this problem, unfortunately, we are prohibited from using it because our constitution protects against self incrimination. If we simply shot them up with truth serum. Yes, I know the current versions are not 100% reliable, we could research better ones, if we create good ones, then the military and the CIA could use them for interrogation. We could make it optional, give them one last chance to prove their innocense.
