See that bull**** excuse is just that. You could also easily say that if the kid went straight home, he would be alive as well.

The fact is up until right after Zimmerman got out of the car, everything that Zimmerman had done was LEGAL and did not cause the death of that kid. What happened afterwords we don't know all the facts as to whom to place the guilt to.

We know he followed and got out of the car. We know dispatch told him not to.

Not sure that matters much. No matter his faults, and it is easy to talk ill of someone dead, the fact remains Zimmerman was told to leave Trayvon alone. Zimmerman didn't.

I see you've hung him from the nearest tree already.

Nope. But we do know this. We can't and shouldn't pretend like we don't. He was told to leave him alone and he didn't.

Exactly, Simon. Sam, please cite your assertion that witnesses saw Martin accost Zimmerman as he was walking back to his car.

If there's evidence like that out there, it's game-set-match and Zimmerman's off the hook.

    But I don't believe you.

I don't think there's much doubt or disagreement that, if Zimmerman had only stayed in his car, none of this would have happened. But it is not against the law to get out of one's car. If there is nothing to contradict Zimmerman's statement that Martin attacked him from behind, the state should not be prosecuting him for any degree of manslaughter or murder. Our court system doesn't roll that way.

As to everyone besmirching Martin, he was a 17-year-old kid. Seventeen-year-olds do ****. Trying to portray him as some kind of criminal is just wrong. There is absolutely no-nada-zero evidence that he was some hard-core criminal. Those hard-cores people are trying to compare him to? They've got rap sheets by age 17, and ya'll know it. And he'd have been packing a gun.

This is a tragedy. Zimmerman made a horrible mistake. A young man is dead. It points to the need for a whole new look at Neighborhood Watch programs. Was it murder? Only Zimmerman knows for sure. It points to the possible need for a law that says you cannot do anything more than call 911 when you see something you deem suspicious...the need for registering these groups...getting volunteers to sign agreements (which become contracts) as to what conduct is allowed and what isn't.

Gads. I can take either side of this so easily it's rather disconcerting.
The devil whispered in my ear, "You cannot withstand the storm." I whispered back, "I am the storm."

In other words, he was told not to pet the animal, and he did it anyway. It sounds like Trayvon was the kind of kid that was headed down this path sooner or later.
