New Hampshire to vote on gay marriage repeal

It's up to the states what they want to do. Personally I don't support gay marriage for religious reasons, but don't oppose it either because America is not a theocracy and states have the rights to define marriage.

That's actually rather debatable.

Yeah we can pick and chose what to vote on....When you lefties know you will lose a vote (and that happens every time a vote is taken) you want activist judges and legislatures to handle it..........Sorry it don't work that way.

Actually, it does. And no, it doesn't happen every time a vote is taken.

So now you want to throw out the Constitution......

No. That is the GOP and their sheep. They are the ones who want to disban this amendment and that amendment. I just want equal rights protected under our constitution. Otherwise we can have a country with 50 different standards which are not equal.

Then marriage would be inferior to civil unions and they would still be unequal.

Well you might say that but marriage would still be in tact and I as a married man would be happy with that....That is why I say call it any name you want, make it better then marriage and then may you gays will be happy.

I dont want something better then marriage. I dont want to get special treatment. I want equality.

If it bothers some people so much to have their marriage called the same thing as any other marriage, then they always have the option of calling their union by some other name.

Can you tell me what you stand to lose from two men marrying eachother? What quantifiable harm would be done to you?

There are several constitutional amendments that people on the right wing suggest we get rid of. The 14th (specificalyl birthright citizenship), 16th (income tax), and, for some bizarre reason, the 17th (direct election of senators. wtf?)

Not always the same people on all three amendments, mind you.

You have the same rights I do......you want special rights............You want to change something that has been defined since Adam and Eve as a union between a man and a woman. That must never happen......Get you own name for it.......

1. We will lose the definition of Holy Matrimony.

2. I don't know what your talking about but it might not be a bad idea .............When the origantors of the 14th amendment was signed gay marriage was not in the mix.......

If you get married at the justice of the peace isn't it already not the definition of "Holy Matrimony"? Churches can still do what they want.

Basically you are pissed about gay marriage because of some pointless reason based on semantics. Hardly a reason to deny equality. This is the United States... we tend value equality here.

1. We will lose the definition of Holy Matrimony.

...stupid. Allowing same sex couples to marry does not change the definition of marriage, it only adds a new definition. Why do people on your side make this ridiculously stupid argument? Does it truly not occur to you that words can have more than one definition? Heterosexual marriage is in no way affected by same sex couples marrying. You cannot argue that you lose anything. This kind of rhetoric is not reasonable and it makes you look like a mindless parrot who doesn't even understand this debate.

It should also be views as a violation of the 1st amendment:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion"

Being that marriage is a contract that takes the government to dissolve.

Even if marriage and a civil union have the same exact rights they will still be unequal. However civil unions tend to have less rights then marriage does. And just to let you know marriage is older then Christianity and no the church does not own the word marriage.

No one defines Holy Matriminy for me, but me. If means something to me, it lives. if it doesn't, it doesn't. And nothing someone else does changes it.

As for number 2, it wouldn't be the first time what a law actually says had unexpected consequences. Take the words all men are created equal. That means something different to us today than it did when written.

And you got it my gay friend..You have the same right I do.......you want a special right.......It ain't gonna happen.

All men are created equal....Its what they do after they are created.......

If you think it hurts me by calling me and old man your wrong and no it wasn't before my time........I am 74 years old and although I had some health problems last year still work out 3 or 4 times a week and jog on my treadmill...

The point is "Under God" is there now and has been upheld by he SCOTUS when people like you tried to get it thrown out........

I never tried to get it thrown out. Do you ever tire of the dishonesty you use to approach debate? Or is it just something you've accepted as part of your debate style?

Holy is a religious term and you are not allowed to subjugate others to your religion. One of the foundations of the Republic pal.

We shall see my Liberal friend, we shall see...........

Truth be told its very little about gay marriage....most gays could care less and just want the same benefits straights have..........I have no problem with that.........A few militant gays like you and a whole bunch of libs are pusshing the issue.......They want the gay lifestyle trated as a suitable alternative lifestyle...to teach our children this.................that will never happen.........The gay marriage thing is a sham...........

Wrong as usual my left wing friend..........Holy Matrimony is the sacrament of marriage and you can't change it......
