73 arrested at Occupy protest

For now they are mostly using non-violent civil disobedience as used successfully by Thoreau, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and the Vietnam protesters, among others. If these actions do no bring about change, then its likely people will turn violent as they have in other countries with great wealth disparity.

I wasnt referring to violence. I am talking about fighting back financially. OWS members continually support large businesses and keep giving their money to the wealthiest people in the world. The wealthy arent stealing the money from the "99" percent. The "99" percent are giving them their money. They are lining up to do so. People complain about the wealthy having too much money then line up at wal-mart, mcdonalds, starbucks ect. Kraft/Marlboro are huge as hell but the 99ers kitchens are stocked with their products.

They want to fight back, they need to do it financially. Stop supporting businesses who's views arent in line with theirs. Otherwise they are just a bunch of loud mouthed, crying hypocrites.

Class war has been waged on the working class by the 1% for the last 30 years, so please excuse me while I laugh in your face that you think the working class is getting to uppity to suit you. We all should be thankful people are not rioting and looting here yet as they are in some other countries with great wealth disparity.

Over and over I've been saying its not a matter of envy of the rich, it is the simple fact that consumers are needed to drive a consumer based economy, and when most of the wealth is concentrated at the top, out of reach of consumers, the economy cannot prosper.

How American Income Inequality Hit Levels Not Seen Since The Depression

I dont see how the 1% have been declaring class warfare for the last 30 years. You dont give a man your money then get mad because he has it. Thats just silly

It's only class warfare when we start fighting back. The battle has been too one-sided for too long. Not a big fan of all that occupier sillyness, but make no mistake. Class warfare has been alive and well for decades. Wealth distribution has been migrating to the top a LOT longer than rightwingnuts have been whining, "Wealth distribution, class warfare, wah, wah, wah....."

You have 2 organizations one is the Tea Party the other is Occupy..........The difference is:

1. The Tea Party: Protest against the Hussein Obama Admin peacefully...Wave flags and sing patriotic song...Follow Police orders etc.

2. Occupy: riot in the streets.......many organizations there including Communists, Socialists that dominate the rallys out shouting the honest people. They agenda is to overthrow the gov as we know it........There have been cases of riots, rape, vandalism, urinating and ****ting in the streets.......The Tea party people police them selve. after a rally the clean up the area.....When the occupy people leave it looks like a disasster area.

The Tea Party is nothing like the Occupy movement. The Tea Party people play by the rules and they take a bath at least once every other day.

Thanks the the class war by the 1% over the last 30 years, we now have the highest disparity of wealth in this country since before the Great Depression, and you expect people to just take it without fighting back?

So you feel that if the rich were poor as well everyone would be happier?

I will never understand why our left wing friends hate the wealthy so much.....Most have worked hard for the money and don't need the left to redistribute it.....I have one question for you lefties............Have you ever got a job offer from a poor person?

So...what exactly are you 'fighting back' against? You pretty steamed at those multimillionaires in the democrat party...musicians...athletes...all those folks? Say you want a 'revolution'? Who has 'oppressed' you? Which rich man has stole your nickels and dimes? Which 'man' is keeping you down?

Doesnt make any sense for them to hate on the wealthy. You'd think they would at least have the courtesy to say hey man...thanks for paying your share...and our share...and our kids share. Its always a laugh riot watching them...as if it is 'the rich' that caused them to be such pathetic dismal failures. Take EVERY PENNY from the rich...and that makes those whiners better off...how again?

If the rich were to give the OWS crowd all their money they'd have it all back in a few years.

In general terms, the rich are smart and hard working whereas, as we have see, the OWS crowd are often neither.

Oh...I do a bit o the pot stirring myself. Id TRULY love to know just what part it is about their pathetic miserable existence exactly that the OWS supporters blame on 'the rich'...and just who are all these people they are so upset with. i mean...is it John Kerry? hes a rich ****. Obama? He aint too shabby himself. Is it the rich movie stars...TV personalities? I mean...I can see why the OWS hates Jon Stewart and his 18 million dollar salary...****ing capitalist pig. Or Michael Moore, that scumbag with his wealth AND investments...
It all gets a little tiresome. If they invested half as much effort into themselves as they do in blaming everyone else for their failed existence, they would likely be successful.

I'm aware that there have been several crimes - including a few rapes (really, not "many" rapes)- in the area of Occupy protests, but much of the crime (depending on which city you're talking about) stems from, e.g., gutter punks opportunistically setting up headquarters in Occupy camps in order to avoid the police. I can't speak for many places, but that's definitely true in several major west coast cities (notably San Francisco, Oakland and Portland).

Proven by the fact that the rape victims were OWS protesters. Not OWS protesters attacking everyone else.

Bottom line they are looking for a free handout........

Whoever were the rape victims, or the perpetrators, we all know that nothing like this ever came close to happening at a Tea Party protest. They were respectful, orderly and clean.

You got that right, thank you:applaud

They were an average age of 79 and in a hoverround and were telling everyone to keep government socialism off their medicare. Not to mention they didn't protest by camping out. They came and went day to day. You couldn't possibly have made a more false comparison.

You're right, they were far too classy to rape. Nothing bad ever happened. These guys were Liberal plants...

It's fair to say that both OWS and Tea Party had valid points and valid anger. The lengths people go to to demonize the entirety of either just to ignore the message they brought is rather stupid.

Somewhere along the way you missed the whole wealth inequality issue. If they had wealth to fight with, they wouldn't need to protest against wealth inequality.

No, we gave a man our money because he promised to create jobs in this country. It was called trickle down economics. Only problem was the wealth didn't trickle down, it gushed up. This movement is about correcting that situation.

So you feel that if the rich were poor as well everyone would be happier?

No one is asking the rich to be poor. What are you talking about? Are you under the impression there were no rich people when we had progressive taxes?

Its simply a matter of economics for those smart enough to understand it like Buffett and the 400 millionaires that petitioned Congress to raise the taxes for the wealthy. If too much wealth is concentrated at the top like its now, and was just before the Great Depression, than consumers can't create the demand necessary to stimulate production.
