WASHINGTON (AP) -- Barack Obama likes to talk about his kids. What parent doesn't?But Obama isn't just another dad shooting the breeze about his kids' antics in last night's soccer game. He's the president, and he brings up his daughters to explain his thinking on all sorts of combustible national issues.
He's cited Sasha and Malia, now 10 and 13, in discussing everything from the rescue of an American aid worker from Somali pirates to the touchy subject of public access to emergency contraception.

News from The Associated Press

Don't buy the hype people...This President is desperate. Never mind the outrage if a republican had said anything concerning Obama's children which they wouldn't, but Barry brings them up in the fashion that liberals always turn to what I like to call the unassailable victim, although in this case Obama is so worried that he has used his own children in this ploy over, and over again...And why?

Maybe this is but one reason....

The Congressional Budget Office said Friday that President Barack Obama’s tax and spending policies will yield $6.4 trillion in deficits over the next decade, more than double the shortfall in CBO’s own fiscal baseline — even after taking credit for reduced war costs.

You need to take a chill pill, not everything Obama does need to be a "ploy". Your men Romney and Santorum use their family during the campaign to bolster their views and "humanity" all the time as well, so why do you have to make a thread attacking Obama specifically for something that every politicians do?

This is ridiculous. Your such a partisan hack. OMG OBAMA talked about his kids and issues! Big woopdy doo. Nothing to see here people just another J-mac thread.

Wow, the President mentioned his children. How ... awful.

He is using his kids to try and make an emotional appeal with his rhetoric.

No ****. How trivial and silly can we get?

Another non-issue, brought to you courtesy of extreme conservative hacks.

Because Romney and Santorum have a (R) next to their names.

Romney and Santorum have paraded their family on stage throughout the campaign so this thread is one of the most pathetic ones here.

j-mac, your hated for Obama is downright pathetic. You are now down to grasping at straws.

Well, I can see that I touched a nerve by all the personal attacks in this thread. But, this thread isn't about me folks, it is about Obama, and his desperate campaign and demo's using every logical fallacy in their control to try and distract, dissuade, and disseminate that which is their failed policies over the past three and a half years.

Economy in the tank, not producing enough jobs to spur actual growth to the point that people can have hope.

Real jobless rate closer to 19% instead of the 8+% Obama and the band of liars try and tell you it is.

Gas prices at levels that when a republican was in office these liars couldn't get to a camera in front of a gas station fast enough to hang it around Bush's and Cheney's necks.....What a joke, now it's all about how the President can't control gas prices.

Attacks on the Church's freedom of religion, then the pivot to this phony, contrived, bull**** sad sack story from this woman they dug up from the ranks of agitprop useful idiots when they figured out that their original witness in front of Issa's committee, Michael Newdow, that all of the sudden didn't appear....Wonder why? Maybe it is because all that seperation of Church and state stuff, they figured out that he would make our case for us....

And there is more, much, much more....But cry on fellow travelers of the liberal, progressive cabal, because Obama, and his radical assembly of Marxist enemies of capitalism are going down...

Face it, y'all bit off too much, too quickly, and none of the twisting, narrative changing, media in the pocket, shill tactic will work, because after everything is said and done, the one thing that liberals always make when they head out on this road of destruction of capitalism, they mistakenly believe that the American people are stupid. And they aren't.

Well, it was a hell of a try progressives, now back under the rock!

Good God, read the article from THE AP!!!! He is using his kids as political props, much like a coward does.

Ummm...

He's not talking about Obama's kids...he's talking about OBAMA talking about his kids.

You DO understand the distinction, don't you?

He is using his kids to try and make an emotional appeal with his rhetoric.

Just because an appeal is to emotions doesn't mean it is invalid.

I see nothing wrong with a politician talking about an issue as to how it relates to his children, or how his children relates to an issue. After all, a politician - Democrat or Republican - can bring up many valid points that way.

What I object to is politicians using their children directly, such as in photo ops or having them speak on one issue or another.

There's a clear difference.

Yes it does in matters of debate.it's how we got involved in unlawfull wars.it's how we are steered to invade and plunder.Africa, here we come......again

A lot of politicians like to talk about their kids... big deal. Palin did it all the ****ing time. She even demanded a comedian apologize twice for a bad joke, and when the economy was at it's worst. What an evil person.

Appeal to emotion is a fallacy period.

Description of Appeal to Emotion

An Appeal to Emotion is a fallacy with the following structure:

Favorable emotions are associated with X.
Therefore, X is true.
This fallacy is committed when someone manipulates peoples' emotions in order to get them to accept a claim as being true. More formally, this sort of "reasoning" involves the substitution of various means of producing strong emotions in place of evidence for a claim. If the favorable emotions associated with X influence the person to accept X as true because they "feel good about X," then he has fallen prey to the fallacy.

This sort of "reasoning" is very common in politics and it serves as the basis for a large portion of modern advertising. Most political speeches are aimed at generating feelings in people so that these feelings will get them to vote or act a certain way. in the case of advertising, the commercials are aimed at evoking emotions that will influence people to buy certain products. In most cases, such speeches and commercials are notoriously free of real evidence.

True enough, reminds me of the Who song....'here comes the new boss, same as the old boss....'

Easy pal, you're equating referencing your daughter in a discussion about women's health issues to guilting us into war. Not all legislation based on emotion is irrational, sometimes it's based on real life implications.

It's also how we passed child labor laws and came to the aid of Europe during and after World War 2.

There is a big difference between campaigning for the nomination, and using ones kids as props to quell questions on policies you know are controversial...But hey, if you think that the dishonesty in that is inherent in that ploy by Obama is valid, then I will mark this discussion for future use when you and or others pull it out when a republican does it...
