Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer sent a letter of apology to a campus lesbian and gay advocacy group for a team rule that punished "loafing" players by making them wear lavender jerseys during practice.

Meyer acted following a complaint from the Scarlet and Gay group, which took offense at the use of a "non-masculine" color often associated with the LGBT community to isolate an offending player in conditioning drills.
When the rule was introduced at a Feb. 15 news conference, junior linebacker Etienne Sabino said players were driven by the desire to avoid wearing a lavender jersey.
"You don't want to wear those shirts at all," Sabino said. "Just loafing in general, you don't want to get those. The lavender (jersey) is definitely motivation not to get any loafs."
Responding to the Scarlet and Gay complaint, Meyer said players pulling up short for the second time during drills would be made to wear another color other than the "purple" jerseys.

So the gay community has ownership of lavender? There is no basis to apologize and if this gay group is offended, well let them be offended and act like children about it.

Things like this make me lose faith in humanity.
 
You always have to pick and choose your battles. This is one where I don't think this LGBT group should have picked a fight. I could understand if the coach was using specific gay slurs or something of the like, but I don't think this comes anywhere close to being an issue.
 
The school and and everyone involved were aware of the fact that the jerseys were being used as punishment because the color was effeminate or gay as a premise to deter players from loafing.

Simply a slight slip in questionable taste everyone seems to have gotten over.

No reason to blow up here because the issue is resolved there.

Because it regards homosexuality or femininity as demeaning by principle.
That's what.
It wasn't good for the community there and people wanted it changed.
 
I demand that the "Scarlet and Gay" group apologize to Christians for utilizing "scarlet" to advance their homosexual agenda via their name. Scarlet is a color in traditional Christian hymns representing the blood of Christ. I'm offended that they use that color to advance an un-Biblical homosexual agenda.

I'm being sarcastic and bringing light to the completely moronic point of view that this gay group had a legitimate right to complain. They have as much right to complain as evangelical Christians would about the group utilizing the color scarlet in their name and being offended because of it's traditional meanings and representations in Christianity. I'm trying to make a point by using a similar (and also moronic) example.

Look dude, I can laugh at Chris Rock make fun of whitey all day long, so if a few homosexuals can't laugh at lavander expressed as a homosexual trait then I am sad for you. If you are homosexual and you don't like the color lavander then what is to be offended by? if you do then the point of the "punishment" to the players is appropriate since YOU the gay that is offended because you like lavander is associated with the type og lavander loving gay dude you are.. :)

I really dont understand why the LGBT group got so offended. As far as I know the coach didnt make any anti LGBT remarks or anything like that. Of course I also dont understand why its such a bad thing to wear a lavender jersey but hey.

What I don't understand is why the gay mafia is enforcing their own stereotype - by claiming the color purple is a "gay color" aren't they stereotyping themselves? Their level of stupidity knows no bounds.
 
He should have just gone, sorry I didn't realize at this school your group uses the color for symbolism and were offended. However, in the great scope of things, this does not matter so shut up and let me coach your school's football team because when we go back to being a power house none of you will care about this.
