Now, numerous reports have surfaced that Edison fans were referring to Alamo Heights as "Alamo Whites."

Those people say that is racist as well.

The controversy also has people asking questions about why saying "USA" could be considered racist.

Ashley Mergele is an Alamo Heights junior who was at the game.

"People call us 'Alamo Whites' all the time, but I think in this situation it made a bigger deal," Mergele said.

You don't need to be a tarot card reader to understand this. Unless, of course, you're blind to racism.

Hypothetically (or not as the case may be), if the other team was made up of illegal aliens would the Alamo team have been socially acceptable in chanting USA? What if the other team was displaying the flag of Mexico or shouting "viva la Mexico", would they have been accused of racism? Or, would they have been celebrating there ethnic heritage?
Except, of course, there is no indication that any of that was happening. What did happen was that a bunch of rich white kids from a rich white school thought it would be funny to chant USA at a team with brown kids on it. It doesn't get much more racist than that, short of dragging a noose around the court.

Good luck with finding a link. This strikes me as a 'We look like a bunch of redneck racists here - quick, let's find some justification for our racism'.

    It ain't working.

Wouldn't it be racist if the chant was "white power, white power, white power"? "USA, USA, USA..." is simply not racist. How hard is that to understand? Some people that disagree with the USA, USA chant are probably into showing their disapproval with "down twinkles".

I asked you a question. You seem sensitive.

In any case, if the other team is calling them "Alamo Whites" (only one report of this by the way with no video), then it seems like there is some racial tension going on in the area and all the willfully ignorant people who earlier in the thread claimed that the other team was just being "patriotic" (LOL) have been shown to be more full of it. Consequently, everything I've said in this thread remains valid.

Even so, chanting "USA" is even dumber than chanting "whites" considering that everyone is in the USA and not everyone is white.

O really? Were you there at the game? Were you there when some first uttered either "Alamo Whites" or "USA" whenever this whole conflict began? Don't think so.

Look Play, I find it funny that you can believe that "USA" constitutes racism, yet want video evidence of someone actually chanting about a skin color before you believe it....This says volumes of you sir.
