Why is that whenever people say that the "left" are lashing out at somebody, I've never even heard of the person in question? Who the **** is Bob Kerrey?
 
Bob Kerrey has always rubbed me the wrong way and I've never really liked him...but I'm glad he's running. Let's face it, Nebraska is not going to elect a Russ Feingold type of Democrat anytime soon, and the liberals who are holding out hope for that are being stupid and counterproductive. Someone like Bob Kerrey or Ben Nelson is about as liberal a figure as can be elected in Nebraska, and I'm happy to have that extra Democratic vote on progressive legislation at least some of the time, rather than a Nebraska Republican who would NEVER vote for progressive legislation.
 
Embracing Conservatism is the only choice the Dems have, if they expect to retain any kind of power.

No, embracing the middle of the road is the only way any party has of attaining the Presidency or controlling the Senate. The Dems. at least, understand this, which is why they are going to do both in 2012. The Regressives have two more years to figure this out.

If the Democrats embrace conservatism, the Republicans will win. If I remember well the election of Obama, the participation was relatively high and the abstention was lower than before, when Bush was elected in 2000 and 2004. A part of the electorate who generally don't vote decided to vote because they saw Obama as a way to improve their conditions. If the Democrats go to the right wing, those voters will come back to abstention and the Democrats will lose the elections.

It does not seem to me in this article that the democrats are willing to go middle of the road. Bob Kerry is a moderate and they hate him:confused:

It seems the most dedicated liberals do not like him. I take that as meaning towards the extreme end. Overall, I think most moderate and Blue Dog Democrats would like him and welcome him if he were elected.

I find it amazing that you don't know who he is....a 2 time senator, a Navy Seal, and most of all a holder of this countrys greatest award, the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Nebraska is probably one of the most Conservative states in this country. It will be difficult for him to even get elected.
 
Bob Kerrey is one of those guys you can apply to the Democrats in the same way that some on the left around here love to apply Barry Goldwater to the Republicans.

The question then being . . . what happened to all the reasonable, moderate Democrats? It certainly is as fair to ask that question as it is about the Republicans. After all, the moderate Democratic Leadership Council is no more, and guys like Joe Lieberman are ostracized.

I like Bob Kerrey a lot. More than John Kerry, that's for sure.

Both parties have gone so far to the extreme to please their vocal minorities that nobody knows what a moderate is anymore. If you are to the right of an extreme liberal, you are an "Evangelical whacko who wants to spend on defense and bomb everybody until they believe in Jesus. Except Israel." If you re to the left of an extreme conservative, you are a "Card carrying member of Hamas who worships at the altar of Karl Marx and won't rest until America is ruined."

Leiberman is the way all people in congress should be. He is non partisan on many issues... If everyone in Congress was like him we would not have the problems we have now.

Kerry was last elected in the nineties and is a moderate.........things have changed since then my left wing friend.

Look I like Lieberman, but he left the Party because of the primary. They didn't kick him out and they ostracized him after he formed his own party. There is a difference between him and Kerrey.
