I don't think one should feel obligated to talk nice about someone just because they died. I certainly wouldn't post anything negative on an official condolence site, but I don't feel obligated to change my position on someone just because they died.

No one is obligated to speak nice about him. This is not an RIP tagged thread. However, just as with many other public figures who died, those who use this as an oppertunity to attack the dead person are revealing things about themselves.

Two people died today: a political commentator and a man. Most, if not all, people who have made their negative remarks about the commentator have also commented positively about the family of the man. I think that's pretty fair. And while I don't think it makes much sense to participate in the behavior that you criticize Breitbart for (harshly disparaging the dead), it's understandable and hardly worth being called "heartless" or "vile".

It's certainly not merciful or classy, but the condemnation so many people are showing towards those who are unsympathetic to Breitbart, the commentator, seems pretty nonsensical to me.

    Re: Andrew Breitbart Dead

I'm skeptical of this. It wouldn't surprise me if someone like him, who aggressively investigates people of power, was murdered.

My opinions of what the man did and how he did it has not changed. However, what he did for a job does not mean I have to hate him as a person. I think my personal opinions of what the man did and what I thought it means for our political environment is for a different thread.

yeah, that no one can call us inconsistent.

sorry, but I don't follow this very strange & silly idea, that we should shut our mouths when a bad man dies.

what do you expect, inconsistency? sorry, but I'm no hypocrite.

...however, I feel bad for his kids & wife. But ONLY for them.
Hummm, I don't remember you doing that, and I don't really believe your last sentence, but it is hilarious that you're comparing Brietbart to those people. I think Andrew probably be flattered that he inspired such contempt from someone like you. /shrug

Like what? That they are human? That they didn't forget how Breitbart treated Kennedy? If this were a thread about a dead kid and people were making disparaging comments, then you might have a point. However, Breitbart was hardly a saint when he talked about other people, living or dead.

Talking crap about Breitbart is obviously not a merciful or classy thing to do, but it's certainly not a notable enough action to read too much into the character of people who do it.

yes, as he was clearly hated by many, and deserved such hatred.
