Anonymous has uploaded*a video declaring war on the US government. In a round of hectic online activity that saw the group hacking many intergovernmental websites, the online hacker community seems to have come on its own to make their latest announcement declaring war on the US administration declared as "Operation V".

The video of the statement is at the link. Sounds like they're advocating violent revolution. I remember when people were decrying supposedly violent rhetoric from the TEA party.

A revolution is probably going to happen at this rate. Our congress is corrupt and full of cronyism, and public wealth is being transferred to private coffers at levels never before seen. I'm glad I'm out of country and my family is accounted for... I don't want to be there when the ball drops.

What Anonymous is saying is what a lot of people have already been thinking. It's not really that shocking.

I see such predictions/wishes as the thought process of those who don't have the patience or maturity to let the democratic process work, or get involved.

..and its just useless chest-thumping.

A violent overthrow of the US government is not something most people would support.

To be fair, this is what the Tea Party has been protesting about. It seems that the complaint here once again is that they are mad that they can't freely take what belongs to someone else.

It's not a wish... I don't want so many people to die. I don't see the point of our democratic process anymore. Government is increasing its powers rapidly and infringing on the rights and liberties of the individual more and more every month. A lot of the "security" laws on the books right now would have made people cringe 15 years ago, now they are common practices.

We have a government that is not answerable to the people. It answers to money, and the personal agendas of the people who are supposed to serve us.

So please spare me lectures about my lack of participation. The only way protests do anything is if hundreds of thousands of people get involved, but our country has become fat and stupid, so that's not likely to happen.

if people don't care enough to get involved, then they clearly wouldn't support a revolution.

what have you done to help exhaust all peaceful & legal options to change this country for the better?

and what would a violent revolution accomplish? kick everyone out of the government, so new folks could take their jobs?

what will you do when those new foks run things just like the old folks?

The issue is that there are SO MANY people who believe the opposite on both sides of the field. It's ridiculous and I wish people like you would have been here in the late 2000s. We had a group of people who were constantly going on about how they'd be ready if the government ever became too oppressive. Really bubba? As if their fat asses would get up for 20 mins from the couch to pick up a gun and go after the military.

It doesn't have to be violent. The first would be enough popular protest, which would require people to turn off their TVs and computers, and start noticing reality again. If Anonymous is smart, they will attack the telecoms. Unplug the fantasies and people still start to notice what's wrong.

Only if the government doesn't respond to massive popular protest should things become violent. But right now, the injustices are climbing. More and more people are being wronged. There are people that even I know who have relatives who have had unjust run-ins with overreaching government powers. It's only a matter of time before it affects you or I - the innocent.

Until now, our government has been skilled at walking the line and not offending the necessary amount of people to spur backlash. But as their addiction to power and crony money grows, they will be less able to keep their tyranny under control. That's when the ball will drop - and that day is coming.

I suspect that the more we hear about "violent revolution", the less likely it is to occur.
