Wisconsin governor won't challenge recall signatures

So, why do they need to unionize.

Hypothetically, they might want to unionize to prevent the governor from demonizing them and trying to balance the budget on the backs of gradeschool teachers instead of addressing the real issues, such as irresponsible spending and insufficient revenue.

Addressing Public sector Unions, IS addressing irresponsible spending.

So says the governor. The people who are teaching the children and literally putting out fires might have a different opinion.

You would be correct sir. Bypassing the curse filter is a definite no-no.

However, I did not bypass the curse filter. I wrote what I wrote and let the curse filter do it's job. There is the result.

I was told by the moderating staff to just write what I write and let the curse filter decide what is considered to be profanity. You can't go wrong that way. If the computer doesn't recognize a word as profane how could the powers that be expect an everyday poster to? I mean, if I write "mother****er" it seems to work quite well doesn't it? I was kind of surprised the filter allowed it too. But no attempts to bypass were made.

What WILL get you into trouble, as explained to me, is to attempt to get around the filter and getting unacceptable profanity posted here. Which I made no attempt to do, whatsoever. I would never do that. I gave my word.

If the mods found that word to be profane they surely must have a way to inform the curse filter, no? And if I offended anyone, I do so apologize.

Perhaps the powers that be do not consider ********ing to be that profane?

Yes, those about to lose their gravy train will always whine.

If Walker wanted to turn the tide he could always put up a tollway at the IL border and charge those F.I.B.S.. (and ONLY F.I.B.S.,) for driving into the state. And put a toll for them every 5 miles thereafter.

All Wisconsinites hate the ****ing Illinois gives us just to drive on their roads. And to add insult to injury, the toll doubles for the last mile or so before you actually cross the border going home.

I'm on the Illinois side, and I'm with you. I like shopping and doing a lot of entertainment in WI, but they have the tollway crapping things up. If you just exit right before the toll and hop on right after the toll, you can easily get around it with out adding hardly any time. I've begun doing that.

And how did that work out? Seems the union was worthless after all, no? And why should people that have no desire to be in a union, be required to pay dues and support them? Seems to me that Walker actually made it about personal choice, again.

But it really isnt a matter of opinion, it should be something that can be proven one way or another. Public pensions and health care costs are a problem in every state. The answer is to either reduce benefits to state employees, reduce the number of state employees, or raise taxes. Or some combination of the three. A governor is not immune from the difficulty of raising taxes, which is why so many are addressing the issue of pensions.

If Walker is recalled and a democrat elected, he will face the same problems as Walker did. The gravy train is coming to an end.

Larry Craig certainly believes that ********ing is not profane.

You have grandkids? You thrilled with pushing of continued mountains of debt and decades of irresponsible government off on them? Me...Im not...that is about the most repugnant and repulsive thing I can imagine.

Ummm you think the next generation should get off scott free without paying a share of the burden? You don't have to push the entire debt on your grandkids, accept a tax raise now. Or at least lend favor to tax raise on the rich who can easily afford it.

Ahhh the hypocrisy of the US right...

US right.. we are here to defend your liberties against the state!

US right.. unless you are in a union then we will remove your right to freely associate, and a bunch of other rights everyone else has and should have, but you cant have because you are part of a union.

US right = hypocrites

Except no one is limiting anyones right to associate.

Oh no? So saying that you are not allowed to be employed by the state if you are in a union is not removing ones right to associate? Or that you will get fired if you are in a union? You have a very strange way of viewing things...

Are you saying there is no public employee unions in Wisconsin now?

I know the route. It will add some time though. I used to live in Gurnee when I was was pushin' boots at Great Lakes in N. Chicago/Waukegan.

I mean, you got a good head o' steam and you're cruising 70 plus, with just a couple of miles to go before the smooth roads kick in across the border and.... STOP!!!.... Pay the toll! A 1.75 (or more?) just to drive the last mile. That pisses me off so bad. I make all attempts to avoid Chicago everytime the oppertunity presents itself.

You think the next and future generations should be saddled with OUR debt? Sure...I'll accept a tax increase...have always said so...along with MASSIVE cuts to the government and that 49% of the crippled dependent pets in this country finally step up and pay at least THEIR fair share and stop continually leeching off society. You bet. See...now we are making progress!

No one give a good God damn who the hell you associate with, it is about the collective bargaining that is bankrupting the states, and when shown such the members refuse to give up ANY substantive concessions that could save that from happening. IT is about the corruption that liberal politicians pander to with unions for their vote, then answer to them once they are in office. IT is about corruption period.

Top leaders of two of Wisconsin's largest public employee unions announced they are willing to accept the financial concessions called for in Walker's plan, but will not accept the loss of collective bargaining rights.

Seems they were willing to concede to Walker, just not disband the union.

We may be in 0% agreement over the Star Trek reboot (something meaning when compared to what's really going on in the world).... but this I totally feel the same as you do.

No, that was a rouse, put out there before any members were polled on approval of it...It was NEVER a serious offer. You know that.

Total BS. The unions had already agreed to Walker's main demands.

Not really. It was not a real proposal.

When it really came down to it and the teacher's union could have agreed to the concessions and saved jobs, they refused.

WUWM: News - MTEA Not Interested in Renegotiating Pension Benefits

The Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association says it will not discuss additional contract concessions.

Milwaukee Public Schools Superintendent Gregory Thornton asked the union to consider paying five-point-8 percent of pension contributions. He said the change might spare hundreds of employees who received layoff notices last month. The district is facing huge cuts in state funding.

What the unions said was that they would agree to his wage and pension demands IF he dropped the effort to abolish their bargaining rights. Obviously he did not accept their offer.
