NYPD surveillance of students called 'disgusting'

WTF is up with Bloomberg, anyway. First he thinks he's in charge of the DEA and ATF, now he thinks he's a branch of the Dept of Homeland Security? This asshole needs to read his job description, and GTFO of stepping over state and federal boundaries.

Why haven't the feds smacked his ass?

I do not know what the laws are here but Bloomberg has absolutely no business tracking students in other states.

if there is any chance these students have any form of ties or affiliation or interest in engaging in terrorist activities, then i would want the authorities to be monitoring those terrorist cells
and if they inflict any damage because they were not monitored, i expect to see the same people now complaining about such monitoring then complaining because they were not monitored

Where does some city mayor, I could give a **** if he's NYC mayor, get the idea that his city cops can act like they are FBI with unlimited jurisdiction in other states???

As a general statement I do not have a problem with it.

What you quoted me saying didn't take the position that the government never has a right to track certain people.

why?

cause money talks, and Bloombergs' got da money.

tell us why those monitoring the possible terrorist connections cannot conduct their surveillance outside the confines of gotham

yes, he has the money. so have a great number of outstanding politicians. what does his wealth have to do with the way he conducts the city's business

seems the green eyed monster has gotten hold of you

that is federal LEO jobs, not the tyrant kings castle guards jobs. He is raising tensions in Muslim communities, creating distrust between them and the local police, when some terrorist actually starts plotting something, it's going to come from someone in the community to bring it to the LEO. if the community thinks alien leo agents are spying on them, nothing will be said.

NYPD needs to stick to NY. Bloomberg should go kiss the third rail.

i seem to recall you rah rahing with exuberant pom poms the local arizona leos enforcing federal statues on immigration

so, when the mayor of a city attacked multiple times by terrorists sics his best and brightest to ferret out evil doing, that is somehow wrong if their work takes them outside the arbitrary lines defining gotham city. don't think so. that would create safe havens for terrorists. those same safe havens you rail against when they are resided by illegal aliens

I do not see anything wrong with police surveillance. It appears the NYPD were working in conjunction with NJ and "did notify Newark officials, before and after, and ... a Newark liaison officer was assigned to the NYPD personnel when they were in there". It appears that during this particular NYPD operation the surveillance included "every mosque and Muslim business in Newark". U.S. police are increasingly adopting the use of public area electronic surveillance to combat crime and gather information. I am pretty sure St. Patrick's cathedral is under surveillance as is a host of other religious, cultural and educational institutions.

The police are charged with our safety and security. I have been subject of their surveillance tactics as has anyone who has traveled to NYC, unfortunately this is part of our post 9/11 world.

My only problem with whether the cop got paid for having a good time while white water rafting.

dude, what's the problem????

we're talking about convictions or indictments due to surveillance of Muslims outside of NYC.

according to Kelly, there have only been 40 arrests. No convictions or even indictments mentioned.

meanwhile you, as an act of extreme desperation, bring up terrorism plots hatched in NYC, that had nothing to do with this program.

so sad, how you need to reach & stretch to defend your indefensable position.

damn, i thought we were discussing NYC officials monitoring the activities of suspected terrorists
someone needs to change the title to match your modification

there have been 40 arrests. we don't know the disposition of those 40 arrested

meanwhile you, as an act of extreme desperation, bring up terrorism plots hatched in NYC, that had nothing to do with this program.
show us that this program had no involvement in those convictions
and don't run from this challenge as you did the last one

so sad, how you need to reach & stretch to defend your indefensable position.

:lamo
let's examine the facts
there is a NYC unit which monitors the activities of suspected terrorists
we know they are responsible for 40 arrests
and we know you are whining because they are so effective

what have i missed - other than your responses to my pointed questions
to which another has been added above. i will show them in red font so that you do not miss them

while figuring out an answer to that one also bring us back an answer to the one you keep dodging. what would cause the courts to disregard the evidence these NYC officials have obtained against the terrorists - as you insist they would - only because such evidence was collected outside the NYC boundary

i seem to recall you rah rahing with exuberant pom poms the local arizona leos enforcing federal statues on immigration

FAIL..... They never crossed state lines to enforce federal law. NYPD can enforce federal law all they like, IN NYC.

Would you like to try again sir.

You simply don't get it, As a New Yorker, I prefer my Mayor restrict his campaigns to those things inside his jurisdiction, we have several federal agencies whos job that is.

don't need to
nailed you the first time
you were cheerleading for arizona LEOs operating out of their jurisdiction, enforcing federal statutes

you would be the first one wailing against the NYC mayor if his detail failed to monitor terrorists outside the NYC boundary but could have prevented a terrorist attack by doing so

Local government can enforce federal statues at will, Your hubris seems unmatched to your ignorance on the matter. Tell the Good Reverend, what came of said lawsuit? And by this notion, sir, you just nailed the NYPD for it's actions.... As they say, the best ownage is self-ownage. Kudos to you.

I find your need to prevaricate only slightly more interesting than your wit.

show us where the DOJ has told the NYC unit to stand down outside the city borders
you can't
which proves you remain wrong and ill informed

i am surprised you could find anything with both hands given your limited and dark vantage

So if you kill a bunch of hookers and the DA declines to press charges, it's ok in your book. Nice logic!

I did try, but then again dealing with your arguments sir, The darkness seemed more an abyss.
