Claim surfaces of Anne Frank baptism by Mormons

Claim surfaces of Anne Frank baptism by Mormons - Times Union

A new claim has surfaced that the Mormon church has posthumously baptized a Holocaust victim, this time Anne Frank.
The allegations come just a week after The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints apologized when it was brought to light that the parents of Holocaust survivor and Jewish rights advocate Simon Wiesenthal were posthumously baptized by church members at temples in Arizona and Utah in late January.

Hmmm. Now they can come for us even when wer're dead. (Not referrering to the Mormons, just the infamous "they" that will eventually come for all us if no one stands up). I guess now we need to provide rights to the deceased.

When they grabbed up my second amendment I sat still and bit my tongue because, truth be told, Iím allergic to guns. But here we are, you with your cold hard fingers wrapped around the neck of my first amendment and Iíve got to shout as loud as I can, because if I donít, before you know it, you wonít let me say nothing at all"

While a agree that batizing Anne Franks is kinda weird and I don't get it, I also don't understand why anyone would care what the Mormons are doing.

If they want to symbolically baptize Anne Frank, who cares?

I don't understand this concept of posthumously baptizing others, but I can see how one would be offended in that Anne Frank was Jewish. I know I'd be more than a little annoyed if one of my relatives who weren't of the Christian faith were chosen to be baptized through a surrogate.

Baptisms can only be done by family, as far as I'm aware.

A lot of people value their religion very highly, baptizing someone is initiating them into another religion.

it's a good thing the deceased have a choice of whether to accept or reject the baptism then....

I wouldn't be offended by any sincere, goodwill effort on my spiritual behalf.

They way I see it, if I'm involved in religion-X, then religion-Y, religion-Z, and religion-Q are all illegitimate and essentially unimportant. If somebody from religion-Z decides to perform some sort of ritual ceremony in relation to one of my relatives then more power to 'em. Their actions are worthless.

That said, even if all religions have legitimacy, who the hell cares? Without the consent of the dead in the presence of god nothing the living do really matters.

I dunno, in a sense, I can understand, but baptizing those who don't have a choice and are known to be of another religious denomination is quite arrogant to me.

The dead have a choice to accept the baptism or not. Or so the Mormons tell me.
