What about all the good Muslims?
No, there are many areas of the world where Muslims are creating a great deal of problems, against other Muslims as well as those of other religions. That you don't know about this does not mean it is not happening.
I'm sure there are many peaceful Muslims but that would be despite islam, not because of it.
Islam seems particularly vulnerable to this bastardization. It's happened throughout history and is also happening during our lifetimes.
The problem I have with that reasoning is that not all Muslims agree with this behavior.
I have had many Muslim friends in my life, and I am certain that every one of them would condemn Iran for killing this man.
I'm not denying that there is a pattern of radicalism in many Muslim countries. However, I'm not prepared to sit in judgement of all Muslims as I am certain that most of them are upstanding people.
And those Muslims that are creating problems are abusing Islam, not following it.
Um no, they follow Islam.
It's happened with Christianity (Still does), Mormons, Buddhists, etc.
Not one religion hasn't been basterdized by someone.
While I don't care for organized religion for other reasons, Radicals are the problems because they abuse religion, not because of the religion itself.
You are obviously not familiar with the Koran and its teachings.
Whether they agree with it or not is quite beside the point. The fact is that they are not doing anything about it.
Perhaps you should have asked them, but whatever their answer might be I suspect it would have been qualified.
Most of them might well be upstanding people, as were many Germans, Italians and Japanese immediately prior to WWII. Strong beliefs, especially those relating to religion and politics, can do crazy things to people, and we see that in Muslim riots, murder, mayhem and violence all over the world. It's difficult to ignore, though many try.
Why don't Muslim accept people that deny that their prophet existed... like good Muslims.
:coffeepap:
They don't have to "accept" him, but they shouldn't kill him.
Do you kill everyone you don't accept?
I don't know, Im not Iranian.
And if they let him go for 'confirming' their prophet by reciting a passage of text from the quran or whatever they do... he could just go.
Right, but he won't do that. So they're gonna kill someone because he won't sing a song for them. That's wrong.
He's a fool...
Assuming that's true, does that mean he deserves to die?
Fools die everyday... how is this one different.

Yeah, what about them?
I'm counting on the good Muslims. I think incidents like this will get the good people to turn against their backward leaders.
Let me know when that works against bad Christian leaders like the Pope.
Sure, but by that simplification, you can never blame any philisophy for anything.
They don't have to "accept" him, but they shouldn't kill him.

What should they do? The ayatollahs won't last long.
Which Ayatollah are you referring to? Do you think others won;t take their places?
They weren't so "secular and modern"'when they crowded the streets to watch gays being hanged by lamposts, or rioted about cartoons and murdered over cartoons. The Iranians I know hate their government. They think it's backward, and they want to get rid of it. These are strong sentiments. The Persian people are very proud, intelligent, and surprisingly secular and modern. They'll do well for themselves once they have the right government.
But for now, what can they do? If you protest in America, you go home at the end of the day. If you protest in Iran, you "disappear."
And that is becoming comm0nplace throughout the Muslim world. What can be done about it?
The ayatollahs won't last another 5 years.
Of course they will. Who is going to stop them?
No but he supports the stoning of rape victims, and apperently it is ok as because "might makes right."
What makes the pope a bad Christian leader?
