Obama seeks 28 percent corp. tax rate

Would "apdst" actually have us believe that a "news site" founded by Tucker Carlson, a conservative commentator, and Neil Patel, former chief policy adviser to Vice President Cheney, is an unbiased source?

It's aces, compared to what you posted. But, hey I'll post another one for you.

This is how it works out here in the real world.

Did GE pay U.S. income taxes in 2010? Yes, it paid estimated taxes for 2010, and also made payments for previous years. Think of it as your having paid withholding taxes on your salary in 2010, and sending the IRS a check on April 15, 2010, covering your balance owed for 2009.

..... In other words, the reality was the opposite of what the Daily Caller had reported. Media Matters slammed the Daily Caller, noting the EPA had "avoided" a scenario in which 230,000 new workers would be necessary.

The Daily Caller's slip-up went viral. Tweeps tweeted about it. Bloggers blogged about it. Greg Sargent at the Washington Post criticized the Daily Caller for revealing that it cared not a whit for facts.

..... Martosko (The Daily Caller) then attacked Media Matters and Mothers Jones for reacting "rashly to our reporting," dismissing both organizations as the "fringe of left-wing thought." It would be tempting to respond in kind—say, to wonder aloud if the Daily Caller had misreported this story in order to serve its right-wing agenda.

GE's current idea of "reform" as expounded by John Samuels, the head of its tax department, is to cut the rate, but to allow some of GE's major tax-minimizing maneuvers to remain in place. It's hard to imagine anything like that happening now.

Samuels said at a tax forum in February that GE needs a tax system that will let it compete effectively with giant, foreign-based multinationals like Mitsubishi, Siemens, and Phillips. However, their effective tax rates for earnings purposes last year were 40 percent, 31 percent and 26 percent respectively, compared with 7 percent for GE. (GE says its tax rate's been artificially low the past few years, and will soon rise.)

Even the source that "apdst" provided admits that GE paid a mere 7% in tax, as compared to the going rate of 35% that corporations supposedly pay.

A 7% tax for GE, perhaps the world's largest multinational, is half of the 14% that the multimillionaire Mitt Romney pays - which in turn is far less than the rate the average American is required to pay.
