Yes, you are just not honest about the real reasons why that is.
Everyone in the world knows why that is, except for the far right wing conservatives.

No it wasn't.Your Chart from the lefty Marxists at UCSD is wrong....Gas price was lower than they show on the chart in 2008.
No we don't.We have plenty of oil in this country to drill. [...]
But at least they aren't trolling. No, I think that they are purposely skewing their own chart there in the interest of so called "Energy Justice".... BTW, what the hell is a supposed law school doing preparing empirical data on energy to in their own words drive policy? They are skewed, they are anti American energy, and they are IMHO trash.
No it's not.The data is wrong.
No it wasn't.[...] Oh get off it...The 'war for oil' meme was debunked long ago... [...]

Why is it that while Obama has increased far more domestic oil production than the oil man, W. Bush, gas prices haven't fallen? People keep saying "drill, baby drill" will solve the problem. Obama is drilling like hell, but the price continues to climb. What the hell is up with that?
And if anyone is "anti American energy" it's the people who criticize Obama's attempt to develop alternative American energy. This is energy we can make right here in the US with American workers doing American jobs with American knowhow, providing for fellow Americans. With Obama's programs in full swing, we can tell the middle-eastern freakshow to kiss our ass. What could possibly be more Pro-American that that?
Facts without context are like the emperor without clothes... impressive only to the servile, humorous to the observant, and a reason to seek rational conversation elsewhere for the intelligent.
And I'm sure that trolling is trolling there too.Facts are facts here.
What's up with that? It's BS that's what.
Hey, you got something you think will work, by ALL means get busy developing it. But....(*ahem*) and let me capitalize this so you can get it right....DON'T CUT OFF CURRENT METHOD OF ENERGY SO THAT YOU CAN FURTHER YOUR AGENDA!!!!!
What may be the most recent legislative CAFE action (increasing CAFE standards), the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, passed the House with 50% of the voting Republicans voting no while only 2% of the voting Democrats voted no.
It passed the Senate with 15% of the voting Republicans voting no while only 2% of the voting Democrats voted no.
Clearly the Republicans in the House did not think it a positive turn of events. Votes: Bill Summary & Status - 110th Congress (2007 - 2008) - H.R.6 - THOMAS (Library of Congress)
And what does the current Obama proposal to increase CAFE once again bring us from the positive party on the right ?
DailyTech - Republicans Try to Block 54.5 MPG CAFE Standard
DailyTech - House Republicans Question Obama's Advisers Roles in 54.5 MPG Fuel Standard Development
Once again... the party of No.
Raising the CAFE standard to 54.5 will add about $9,000, in today's dollars, to the cost of every vehicle on the market. Used car salesmen will be very happy.
Facts not in evidence.
Chew on that, then give us a source for your claims.
So, since we can assume the other 30% comes from the general fund(s), your claim below is wrong:
If you don't drive, you do pay (30%). However, most everybody drives, making your point practically pointless.
And even if you didn't drive, part of your bus fare / taxi fare / airplane fare would include the transporters cost of fuel, including fuel taxes, which really means you have no point at all. Even the cost of food includes the fuel tax that was incurred delivering it from the farm to the processing plant to the store. Rather than no point, you seem to have a negative point... quantum theory may be required to determine just how much of a non-point you have presented.
CAUTION: Gravity may be warped due to a temporal shift in the area of Gill's post
Not yet, but the potential is there with exploitation by big oil:
The World's Biggest Oil Reserves
HOUSTON -- "This month Iraq will finalize contracts with the likes of ExxonMobil, Royal Dutch Shell and BP to develop some of its biggest oil fields. These giants are among the world's last remaining pockets of so-called "easy oil." They don't require ultradeep drilling or innovative production techniques, just the application of Big Oil know-how. No wonder the oil companies agreed to develop Iraq's fields without even getting an ownership stake in the fields and collecting as little as $1.15 per barrel recovered.
Given the size of Iraq's undeveloped giants there are no technical reasons why within 10 years the country can't supplant both Iran and Russia to become the world's No. 2 oil producer after Saudi Arabia. No wonder Iraq holds three of the top 10 fields of the future."

Exploitation ????
Didn't realize these evil oil companies were forcing the Iraqis to allow them to drill their oil fields and pay them billions of dollars.
J-mac how can you say we don't have enough oil in this country to drill? They won't completely tap into alaska and Pennsylvania's oil business is great. I also have a friend who works in the industry in PA and he told me he was told there is enough oil in PA alone to last the us 10 years. If we haven't figured something better than oil in 10 years then there will be something terribly wrong.
I just realized that Fox News not only sells lies, they also sell passion for the re-telling of lies.
Look at how the Foxies and Far-righties cling to the bullcrap like honey flavored gold.
We have the one term Marxist president Barrack Hussein Obama's very own words to consider. He said he was going to fundamentally transform America. Are you so inculcated with hate that you actually believe that Obama wants anything but a restructuring of failed policies?
Do you truly believe that he wants to destroy the US?
So do you hold the counter-intuitive position that having more of something is worse than having less of something? Do you believe that if we produced half of the petroleum we need each day within the US it would make us worse off?The president of the United States does not have a giant dial in his office that says "oil prices." Regardless of which party he belongs to. Oil is a global commodity that is used for basically everything we do, its price is dictated by basic supply and demand, for the most part. This is something the American president has virtually no control over.
Incidentally, the "drill baby, drill" crowd should take steps to learn more about the math behind the idea. Then they'll realize just how stupid it sounds when presented as this magical solution to rising gas prices. We can't drill our way to lower gas prices.
Are you arguing that we should all switch to coal-powered cars then?Even if every auto manufacturer offered a couple of nice $12-19k electric compacts, hatchbacks, small sedans and mini SUV's, saving trips to the gas station it would still take 10-15 years for people to completely cycle out of fuel driven vehicles. Until then expect to start getting raped at the gas stations in the future as the fight for oil reserve's begins to really intensify.
Domestic oil production is HIGHER than it has been in 40 years because the ppb is high..
No doubt the increased demand is why Government Motors is closing the line and laying off the workers.I'm not sure how that makes sense. Would you explain?
For real? Have a look at this...
"Volts are being sold as quickly as they arrive," a GM spokesperson added. "We remain on target to sell every one of the 10,000 units we will build this year for U.S. consumers. Demand continues to significantly outstrip supply, [and] we expect demand to exceed supply for most, if not all, of the 2012 model year."
Chevy Volt sales:Â*What's the real story?
That is not what the graph shows. In the 1980s we were producing 9 million barrels per day. It looks likw about 5.5 million barrels today.
