Texas law requires women to hear description of fetus before abortion

Texas abortion law sparks anger, resignation | www.ktvu.com

A new Texas law requires that women seeking an abortion to see a sonogram of the fetus, as well are asked to hear the heartbeat of the fetus.

Words cannot describe how disappointed I am.

Yes, women will now hear, and or see that it is a life, and not a collection of tissue that they are destroying. That is going to have an effect on the number of abortions done...I can see why proponents of such would be disappointed, their position is about to be compromised.

Alright, I'm sick of this crap.

First off, a fetus is attached to it's mother. It's something called a ****ing umbilical cord. Until very late into the prgnancy can a fetus survive on it's own.

Until then, it is entirely dependant on the mother. It is a part of her. It is a piece of her body. She has every right in the world to do what she wants with her body. You, nor anyone else in the world has any right what so ever, to command her. This is blatant stupid attempts at convincing her to make an already difficult desicion. This is borderline mental harrassment.

You are a ****ing idiot and are the epitome of ignorance and superstition that should have died in the dark ages.

Good day to you, sir.

In a very early abortion, what they'd see would very much resemble a collection of tissue and listening to the heartbeat would be impossible.

I don't necessarily have a problem with the law as much as I do the reasons behind it. People who propose or pass laws to appeal to religion or emotion seem to me to think that the government should be intruding into people's private lives, which I am very much against.

Oh, I get it, you started a contraversial thread subject because you obviously wanted only those that agree with your contempt for life, and lack of responsibility in action to be voiced....Your lean says Libertarian-Left, you should change that to simply progressive, at least then there would be one shred of truth in your presentation.

Now, you either want discussion of opposing viewpoints, or you don't, if you don't, just make it clear in your OP that only like minded individuals need respond.

Your first post was nothing but commendation for the women who are strong enough to go thorugh with an abortion.
So gee, I apologize of being sick of hearing that same bigoted crap over and over again.

My sincerest apologies, Mr. Freeman.

Good grief. You post a thread about abortion and get indignant when someone disagrees with you. WTF??

I think it's a good idea, but I doubt it will stand. At the least, it may ring a bell with a certain percentage of women that causes them to be more diligent about birth control in the future.

Except that I doubt those who authored the bill would be in favor of them using any kind of contraception either. Remember these are the same people who don't like the HPV vaccine because it "encourages promiscuity."

No, my first post was a condemnation of people that give a blanket disappointment in a law that could possibly make some women think twice before taking the risk that starts a life.

Texas, is clearly a stupid place.

But at least they ain't forcing women to undergo unwanted vaginal invasion, like in VA.

Meh. These laws are really silly. The majority of abortions happen in the first 9 weeks. There's really not much to see or hear in that time. They may change the minds of the minority of women who are a bit further along, but I'm guessing not enough to even put a dent in abortion statistics.

indeed. these are just right-wing feel-good laws.

and meant to piss off the Left....and offend women.

I support any baby-step towards severely restricting or banning abortion. I am glad Texas passed this.If this makes a mother change her mind about killing her baby then good.

and what if it just postpones the inevitable?

or just a petty attempt at causing more emotional pain for women.

How is it emotional pain for someone to see a picture of something they see as nothing more than a clump of cells instead of as a human? If someone showed me a picture of a actual clump of cells I wouldn't be upset. This emotional pain over a being shown a grainy picture of a clump of cells sounds like nothing more than fear mongering by the pro-abortion crowd.

Why would there be any emotional pain for a woman during an abortion? It's just a medical procedure....like removing an appendix. Nothing to be emotional about there.

One of the many reasons I would NEVER live in Texas.

Only 52% occur before 9 weeks.Thats 712400 out of the 1.37 million abortions that occur each year. There is still 657600 abortions a year that happen after 9 weeks. So it is not some miniscule number of women that have abortions after the first 9 weeks.

right, like women are happy about aborting their child.

right, like women are happy about aborting their child.

The pro-abortion crowd doesn't view unborn children as children. Many of them says its just a clump of cells or even compare the unborn child to a parasite. Many refuse the recognize a unborn child as a person regardless if the child has been the womb for 1 day or for 8.9 months.

Do you think most women who have abortions know that they're killing their child or are they convinced that it's just a bunch of cells?

I know you don't want to admit it but some women ARE happy after they abort. I'm not saying its the majority now, but it DOES happen.
