Oh. My. God. How insensitive and callous can the man be?

Can we (collective "we") stop being political asshats? I detest crap "reporting" like this. He stopped and got some take-out. He did NOT order shark fin soup. STFU and get over it, people. Sheesh!

Who the **** cares if he goes to a restaurant that serves shark fin soups. Those enviro-******s need to quit getting their vagina hurt over **** like this.

^ Enviro-******s?

Sorry that some of us care about the potential extinction of an entire species because a bunch of stupid, selfish humans want fins in their soup while tossing the rest of the dead shark back to the sea.

What a dick thing to say.

The term fits.

So if they kept and sold the rest of the shark then you wouldn't have a problem? You should probably look up the 2000 Shark Finning Prohibition Act and the shark conservation act.

What a dick thing to say.

Again enviro-******s need to quit getting their vaginas hurt over dumb ****.

A clear case of hack reporting. They don't even bother to be subtle about their slant. Shameful.

I wouldn't have a problem if they:

1) Used the whole shark
2) Not overfish

Until the fisherman respect these two points, I despise this soup and would never eat it myself. I'd much rather be an enviro-***** than a destroyo-nazi. Just sayin'.

With the 2000 Shark Finning Prohibition Act and the shark conservation act I assume they have to use the whole shark. They can't just take the fin and dump the shark in the water.

Two things.

One, it's an American law. So maybe finning stops in American waters. It's not enough and no guarantee that the fin you're eating as not taken from a shark that eventually drowned after a long and painful death.

Two, I have no idea what the rest of the shark is used for. Ocean shark meat is not very good (sharks urinate internally). So if you can find anything, let me know.

Shark skin boots and shark cartilage come to mind.

Another run of that great play by Shakespeare.... MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING.

If you don't think shark-finning is a big deal, then you're just a douche

That being said. The President didn't even order it. So wtf is the big deal?

You are aware that people do eat other parts of the shark besides the fin?

Consideirng the 2000 Shark Finning Prohibition Act(signed by Clinton) and the shark conservation act(signed by Obama) the shark fin soup at that restaurant served was not the result of shark-finning.

I don't like the practices involved and the overfishing of shark populations because of it. They catch sharks, cut off the fins, throw the carcass back. For ****'s sake, at least take the whole fish to market. But no. I'm not exactly down with driving species to extinction for something so trite; but whatever.

They do not do that in the US.

I know that. Nevertheless, most species that are fished (primarily for their fins) are at least species that are threatened or endangered. It's a sustainability/conservation concern. This wouldn't be a problem if shark stocks were plentiful, but they're not.

What a stupid story man. You know what though? The reason stupid stories like this are written is because people apologize for them. I would have had a lot more respect for Obama if he would have just ignored it and moved on. Who friggin cares if he actually even ate the soup? I wouldn't. Is it against the law yet? No. So what's the issue? These people get a voice because the individuals they attack roll over and apologize for the action. I say screw em. Do your thing and get on with your life.

Well, that only extends out to the EEZ, 200 miles. I'm hardly an enviro-nazi but I find the harvest of shark fins disgusting. If the sharks harvested were being consumed in their entirety, I'd be fine with it.

As a hunter and and fishermen, you don't just kill stuff for a piece or two. This is simply conservation as well as balance. Sadly, that term has been hijacked by the enviro-tards but its a pretty conservative principle.

shark steak - Google Search

Of course I do. :doh

Are you aware that most of the shark you eat is farmed, right? Sharks have to be processed properly or there will be a strong taste of ammonia. Also, sharks contain a large amount of mercury, especially the bigger older ones. There's a reason why the meat regularly gets tossed back.
