Interracial marriage in US hits new high: 1 in 12

Why would people even keep track of interracial marriage statistics?

I'm pretty sure sociological studies are done on just about every trend there is. If one were curious whether, say, conservative taboos from fifty years ago were slowly but surely dying away, this study would help to support that.

Edit: and to build on that, can you imagine how awesome it would be to historians and anthropologists if we'd had every sociological study from every civilization in history? Our perception of ourselves with regards to the past would probably turn upside down.

I gave a real example, which I've personally seen a dozen times, which had nothing at all to do with racism.

Sometimes the traditions and norms of different cultures don't jive well.

To reiterate the example, a white and a native: The white person was brought up where you get married and move into your own home with your spouse.

The native person was brought up where your new spouse moves into the big family home, or you bring family into your new home.

No one is doing anything wrong here, this is just a difference which needs to be addressed before hand; which is part of why I support legally requiring pre-marital counseling.

Legally requiring pre-marital counseling? Good Luck With That! Has about as much of a shot of happening as pre-parent classes.

Honestly legal pre-marital counseling is a little too Big Brother for me and not to mention it would be a waste of money. Are our tax dollars gonna pay for this BS? I would rather my tax dollars go towards stuff that matter.

I don't think it is totally racist to only wish to date someone inside your own race or whatever the hell that is called. But it is biased in the same way that some folks will only date certain folks based on body weight, height, hair color, eye color, etc. I think cases of dating kind of blur the lines in reguards to what is racism and ageism. I think a lot of times in some cases that preferences is used to hide racism but a lot of times it is what it is. You cannot make a humanbeing be attracted to something/someone they are not attracted to.

It is RACIST if you think that other people should not date outside their own race.

To study humans and race relations and the such. If someone is keep track of it then it is like a bar in how far we have come in reguards to racism. That is my guess. I dunno. lol
