Va. House GOP muscles through abortion curbs

"The ultrasound legislation would constitute an unprecedented government mandate to insert vaginal ultrasonic probes into women as part of a state-ordered effort to dissuade them from terminating pregnancies, legislative opponents noted.

"We're talking about inside a woman's body," Del. Charnielle Herring, a Democrat, said in an emotional floor speech. "This is the first time, if we pass this bill, that we will be dictating a medical procedure to a physician.""

Wow. Stay out of my vagina Virginia.

I just love it when you talk dirty....hmmm you've been a dirty little sinner......yeah, gona use my GOP muscles to force my religion into your vagina....ultra-sonic sound waves, baby, oh yeah....

The worst part about this is that I'm actually slightly turned on by it...

And I was told that pro-lifers were apathetic.

It is a good law that is likely to prevent some babies from being murdered.

The baby hating left wing in this country has brainwashed many women in this country into thinking that an abortion doesn't kill a living human being and this is a good way to mitigate that propaganda.

If the government is allowed to tell you what procedures are appropriate, as they did in the case of Medicaid and Medicare in the past, then they can tell you that you have to stick a probe up your junk prior to getting procedure X.

This is sickening. A gross violation of what the government should be able to do. This isn't a safeguard to try and protect people, it's trying to exploit an emotional reaction out of someone who is most likely already an emotional wreck in order to achieve an outcome deemed appropriate. Shameful.

Wow. Stay out of my vagina Virginia.

Perhaps they can have the procedure done by TSA Agents at the nation's airports. It seems like the next logical step.

Woman Gropes TSA Agent's Breast at Security Checkpoint

On the other hand they might teach these hillbillies as to what causes pregnancies in the first place.

Over the top hyperbole and rather pathetic hackery eh? The emotional exploitation is in reactions like this.

Ah so you think governments role should be to force unessecary medical procedures on woman...

That's pretty interesting for a "Small Government Conservative" to say.

Show me one good reason why the government should force an unnecessary procedure on a woman?

I'm not a barbarian.

Yep, thought so. Nothing more than an emotional response, which is what this law is trying to do. It's trying to force women, who like I said are most likely emotionally unstable to have an emotional response so that the outcome is what they want.

The government should not be doing this.

Why not? The Government is protecting it's citizens, the unborn that have no voice, no agent in their defense.

As long as people like you are fine with the Government forcing men to pay 18+ years of child support with no way out for a child THEY didn't want, your outrage is just so much hypocrisy.

You'e also A-OK with the Government forcing people to PURCHASE health Insurance, but a 5 minute procedure? Your false outrage is quite emotionally based.

I am a pro-lifer but not a strict pro-lifer as I concede conditions for which abortion should be legal. However, the way our abortion laws are constructed this is indeed an intrusion into a woman's privacy and rights under the law. I see this getting struck down in court.

Uh-Huh. This isn't the first state to pass similar laws. It will go to SCOTUS.

the government, passing a law requiring a woman to stick something up their vagina?

the people of Virginia should rise up in protest against this.

furthermore, if I was a pregnant woman who wanted to have an abortion, and someone told me I had to shove that thing inside of me first, I'd say "**** you, this is my body, not your playground"

Why, they didn't when the Government said it was okay to kill unborn children, but a 5 min procedure is too much to ask...

Besides, maybe if she hadn't "stuck something up her vagina" a few weeks earlier, irresponsibly, this wouldn't happen.

The Government should not be mandating mandatory medical tests that have no medical reason for them being conducted, especially tests that come at the expense of the person. There is no medical reason, what so ever, for this procedure to occur. This is the government mandating to a citizen that they must purchase a specific good or service (a vaginal ultrasound). That's absolutely and unquestionably not the role or puprose of government. This is wrong and is a stark violation of conservative ideology unless one entirely discards the notion of small and limited government in favor of big Social Conservatism. Should we strive to reduce and perhaps even eliminate abortions? Absolutely. However, the method to do that should not be empowering the state with authority it has no business having, mandating that private citizens purchase unnecessary services, and expanding the power of the state. This is plainly and completely wrong.

However, forgive me if I don't really care about the indignation or crying by the democratic delogate when one of her collegues felt that two wrongs makes a right and that having things forcefully shoved into men was also the correct course of legislative action to take.

As a Virginian, this legislation troubles me greatly. I don't want the Virginia State Legislature having power over what medical procedures I should or should not be undertaking and this gives them that power.

I'm sure your vote for the local democrats will be appreciated.

The unborn are not citizens, if they were we wouldn't allow abortion to begin with, first off.

Secondly, I think men should be able to "divorce" themselves from the child before it is born. Once it's born though, it's their responsibility.

And I think the government has a role to play in our lives, it should provide the basic needs and protections for it's people, to put it very simply. It shouldn't be controlling people's lives like this.
