Va. House GOP muscles through abortion curbs

The unborn are not citizens, if they were we wouldn't allow abortion to begin with, first off.
They are, we just ignore that for political ideology. Kinda like how we used to allow slavery...
Secondly, I think men should be able to "divorce" themselves from the child before it is born. Once it's born though, it's their responsibility.

And if they aren't notified of the pending birth? What then? "Oh sorry sir, you should have filed the paperwork before the child was born, you owe 55% of your paycheck plus 5 years of back child support.
And I think the government has a role to play in our lives, it should provide the basic needs and protections for it's people, to put it very simply. It shouldn't be controlling people's lives like this.
What a nice dodge.

Why, they didn't when the Government said it was okay to kill unborn children, but a 5 min procedure is too much to ask...

Besides, maybe if she hadn't "stuck something up her vagina" a few weeks earlier, irresponsibly, this wouldn't happen.

American citizens are "born", look it up. An "unborn citizen" is an oxymoron. Performing medical procedures as punishment for acts some disapprove of is not a valid excuse.

It's not punishment. It's informing the ignorant of their soon to be very lethal actions towards an innocent human. You are heartless sir.

Why is it that people in this country is so inclined to determine other people's lives when they/we can't even get our their/own **** right.

No problem.

I'm not a barbarian.

And what a fetus *actually* looks like at the first trimester mark:

How'd you like to take that "baby" to a ball game?

Gladly, it's a living person.

The "unnecessary" medical procedure that should evoke outrage isn't the Va. law's sonogram, it's the ending of a life for the selfishness of the one who helped create it irresponsibly. Unless it's a case of rape, malformation. or life of the mother/child abortion should be shunned by all civilized people.

Regardless of what you believe about when life begins, the procedure being mandated is unnecessary. It's an overreach of power by the state government. How can you call yourself and small government Conservative and celebrate this?

its very simple: women are NOT second-class citizens. government has no right to force women to stick something up their vagina, especially if it has NOTHING to do with the life or health of the woman.

this is a discretionary prodecure, and if I was a woman I would politely refuse to allow it.

Strawman.

And if they aren't notified of the pending birth? What then? "Oh sorry sir, you should have filed the paperwork before the child was born, you owe 55% of your paycheck plus 5 years of back child support.

I'm not going to go through every what if scenario you can come up with, I don't have the time. I'm not going to ask you a questions like "What if the woman dies of an infection because the instrument used to do the vaginal ultrasound wasn't sterile?"

What a nice dodge.

Not a dodge, it's what I believe. It just doesn't fit your argument against me.

Strawman.

No, I was equating, not saying you made that argument and then knocking it down. If you're going to use the term strawman, at least use it right, it's embarrassing to read.

The simple, easy and correct answer is "Three months to "abort" their rights and responsibilities from the day they are notified of the pending childbirth, and to make things "fair" they should have to meet their off spring, should birth have occurred or see the sonogram of the child pre-birth as part of the normal pregnancy process. Your dishonesty on this subject is astounding.

You dodged the entire premise because you DO support government controlling peoples lives. When it suits your political ideology.

I don't celebrate this, I celebrate the chance to highlight the hypocrisy of those that support killing unborn children.

Maybe. Still slavery is irrelevant to abortion rights.

And I wouldn't necessarily be against that, I'm just not going to answer every hypothetical you can come up with.

In ways that protect the peoples basic needs and security, not in unnecessary ways, like this.

Va. House GOP muscles through abortion curbs

"The ultrasound legislation would constitute an unprecedented government mandate to insert vaginal ultrasonic probes into women as part of a state-ordered effort to dissuade them from terminating pregnancies, legislative opponents noted.

"We're talking about inside a woman's body," Del. Charnielle Herring, a Democrat, said in an emotional floor speech. "This is the first time, if we pass this bill, that we will be dictating a medical procedure to a physician.""

Wow. Stay out of my vagina Virginia.

I support baby step abortion curbs. They will eventually lead to severe restriction and possibly a ban.

I posted this thread not because I am a "baby hater" but I believe in the Fourth Amendment which states "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." The United States Constitution - The U.S. Constitution Online - USConstitution.net In case you skipped it includes the right to be secure in your person.

When it comes to a check against abortion it OK to violate a woman because she might have one? Yes, I said violate. By sticking something into the vagina against someones will, you are violating their body. There is nothing here that protects what some call "an unborn" child. Just a terrifying experience for a woman who MAY have already been raped, then here we go again, let me take your womanhood from you one more time, it won't hurt, but the state of Virginia will feel better about raping you again.

there is something very very sick & twisted, about mostly male politicians voting to force women to have something shoved up their vagina, under penalty of the law.

While I don't agree with this law at all, I don't think it is a violation of the 4th Amendment.

Abortion, except in rare circumstances is an elective procedure, this small step between the woman and an abortion is just to ensure she really understands what is going to happen. Thus the outrage in this thread is... Overblown.

Right, because most women getting abortions don't understand what's going to happen.

Oh that makes it so much better. Yes, and I'm sure Mr Vic over here will be quite ok with having to give a blow job to the TSA agent because afterall taking an airplane is an elective mode of transportation. Or having something shoved up his ass the next time he wants to buy viagra because after all, it's an elective choice to buy viagra. Gimme a break.

While we're at it, we should add verbal degredation to the woman that is getting the abortion and then after that tattoo an A on her forehead. I'm sure that just got some conservatives clapping for joy.

Someone's just a weee bit overblown here in their attempts to create an argument for discussion.
