The Republican establishment is preparing to make the 2012 election about religion. With the economy being the top concern of most Americans, this is not going to end well.
no, it's not. and it's a time waster, as well.

This looks more in line with the drumbeat that Republicans have been doing since the ramp up to the 2010 election...making the issue one of government intrusion. Be it intrusion into the private sector by giving bailouts or enhacing regulation, intrusions into personal and business freedoms with regards to Obamacare, intrusions into how the military functions with regards to DADT repeal, and on and on. This just goes along with that same drum beat, suggesting intrusions into religious freedoms now.

I support what Obama did regarding the insurance plans because it supports my personal values, but I cannot deny that he has basically forced this birth control issue down the throats of the religious. Why target them so specifically like this? The GOP are fighting back because they are the party of the Christian right, did you expect anything less?

I fail to see how this means the 2012 platform will be all religion, when it never has been in the past. Social hotbutton issues always come up but they are hardly what the election revolves around.
The answer to the highlighted question is simple. Liberals hate religion because it interferes with their own beliefs...and they see the Catholics as an acceptable target in their war against religion. Add to that the support they hope to bolster from their base in an election year and it all comes down to...politics.

I suspect that HHS will expand the religious exemption clause before the end of the week.

Tell me? Who is it that takes money from the religious right?

How about we keep our eyes on the ball and work on doing something about all this poverty?
While it might feel good to think "spreading the wealth" around helps the poor, reality is all you're doing is making more poor people and ensuring more people stay poor. 80 years since the "New Deal" and your Progressives still keep saying "The problem is we're not taking ENOUGH money from rich people and giving it to the poor!"
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

Does seem like a safe bet. But guess we will have to wait and see. (Suspecting it will happen soon...)
