Catholics hear anti-Obama letter in church

They can always go non-profit and not have to worry about it. But the almighty dollar speaks to the church instead.

Says the atheist who supports the whole atheist movement which is about money. Makes sense!

Nice try, but I'm not an atheist. Any other lame attempts at a personal attack you wanna try today?

Obama must be either insane, taking on a voting block that makes up some 28% of the electorate, or he is just conceeded enough to think that he can dictate to the Church.

What say you?

It's "bloc" and "conceited."

Huh? Religion makes LOTS more money than atheism.

Hmm - when it comes to some of these church-governed organizations like *hospitals* - I know they rely on government funds so . . . in this way: yes, I think the government should have a say.

It's odd to think that if you go to a Catholic hospital you'll be treated different than if you go to a non-religious hospital for some type of care.

That is where I think the line should be drawn.

You cetainly sound like one!

So in other words, you got caught yet again spouting BS you don't know. Would be better for you to just admit your error and move on.

He'll move on eventually, but admit his error? Doubtful. Especially since it's a double-error - it's factually wrong AND completely irrelevant.

So government doesnt exist to protect the rights of minorities? Nice to know. Terrible logic there Liblady.

If people have a religious objection to a government regulation, most often the government issues an exemption to allow works that benefit the public good to continue without them sacrificing their beliefs. This regulation by the administration is both very narrow and an outlier position in American law. The only states which have similar conditions are New York, California and one other state.

Im going to guess this is going to come down to a costly court fight for both sides with Obama ultimately being struck down because he is anot accepting a reasonable demand on the part of the church to offer relief for religious belief by offering a release valve to allow patients to go elsewhere for those specific services. But, who knows what SCOTUS is going to do nowadays. Kelo stood up after all.

it's not the church who is required to follow the mandate.

The simple solution is for the church hospitals to hire only Catholics, use only Catholic funding, and provide services to only Catholics. Everyone wins...everyone is happy. Same with ALL charitable organizations. They should only employ people that agree with them, should only serve people that agree with their services and rely only on charitable donations.

I agree with you that it was intentionally misleading.

No your other post did not specifically say "all" but it didn't say "some" either. Your wording implied all far more than it implied some. Your hatred for catholics is glaring. Tolerance is the key here. Or do you believe that tolerance does not apply to catholics?

I suppose I'll drop this so not to derail the thread any more than I already have. I just get bothered when people hate on a group of people for stereo types and act like its ok

that's just silly, i don't hate catholics. i hate hypocrites.

Sounds like a great idea. I wish the best of luck in getting around a whole encyclopedia of civil rights acts, amendments and state laws concerning discrimination.

Ignoring the civil rights implication of them doing that, good luck to the hospitals staying in business. They are kept going by non-Christians seeking services from them.

Atheist movement about money? That is absurd.

Time to play everyone's favorite game.

PROVE! THAT! FACT!

I've never seen an atheist on TV begging for people to "give til it hurts". I've only seen Christian televangelists do it...

Well first you most likely can carve off some of that 28% to the Catholics that do not care what the pope says they will still use birth control and really don't care. Second why does the U.S. ultimately fall under the hierarchy of the pope?

If the pope does change his position that birth control is to use then it would be Ok, would that end the fight?

And the real afront would be for religions to force their religion on employees. Be it the janitor or the doctor or the nurse.

You don't have to work there, if you so strongly disagree with a well established doctrine. Why would you think that just because you are employed there, that you can force a change of hundreds, no, thousands of years of doctrine by the Church? You don't own the job.

Obama and crew are gonna cave on this....hard. Probably throw Sebelius under the bus and proceed to back over her.

It isn't just Catholics that are concerned by this severe over reach by HHS here. If this is allowed to stand, then government has effectively done away with religious freedom in this country. Do you think that is a good thing?

Second why does the U.S. ultimately fall under the hierarchy of the pope?

Are you involved with a religion of any kind?

If the pope does change his position that birth control is to use then it would be Ok, would that end the fight?

The last chance for that to happen in our lifetime was in Vatican II. This type of hypothetical is silly, since it is a ridiculous scenario.

I respect two things primarily about Obama, 1: he doesn't pander to the stupid Israel-first lobby and 2: he doesn't pander to archaic bronze age fairy tales when setting public policy. Perhaps if the Catholic Church didn't cover up and protect pedophilic Priests for decades I'd care a little bit more about their "conscience." It's highly absurd that they believe condoms are immoral yet the Bishops who aided in the protection of pedophilia are still in positions of power and influence.

You Catholic haters always bring up the priest thing when you are clueless about it........Do you have any idea about how many priests were involvewd in the scandal..........Less then 1%...
