And ultimately the actuaries have indicated that the current trajectories are unsustainable so whether you WANT to believe it or not SOMETHING must be done to protect/preserve the ‘safety net’.
It was a fatal mistake as far for the GOP's reelection. SS is good until 2036. Raising the FICA cap to $180,000 fixes the problem for the long term from 2036. Problem solved! To address the world's highest health care costs will require health care reform will eventually have to include the next upgrade step to a single payer plan as the rest if the industrialized world has done.

If the mistake is as fatal as you predict why were you compelled to list ways to address an issue that you propose to be so fatal? Could it be that Ryan's concerns ARE legitimate and the elevated rhetoric divided the unknowledgeable electorate? If the concerns and solutions are framed as you so eloquently did would that alleviate the ‘fatality’ of the mistake? And what would the GOP’s chances be THEN? SO many things can happen between now and November!

Easiest answer...the government pays the rent and utilities directly and provides only vouchers for food redeemed at certified grocery stores. Im all for effective social services. EFFECTIVE. People that have money to blow on strip clubs dont need or deserve welfare.

Whoa Vance arguing for big government.

Maybe I'm confusing you with another poster but I didn't think the government choosing what is and is not "necessary" fit into your politics.

You do know this has to voted on by the Senate right? And they have expressed no interest in taking it up.
