Bruins MVP Tim Thomas skips Obama White House event

Willie O'Ree First Black man to play in NHL (Canadian)

Val James first black American to play in NHL

O'Ree played his first NHL game in 1958. That was over 50 years ago. People don't realize that.

Grant Fuhr was the first black to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and first to win the Cup.

Several athletes refused to meet with Bush.

And they were partisan idiots to.

They have the right of course, just like people have the right to call them partisan idiots.

Bruins MVP Tim Thomas skips Obama White House event; why he shouldn

Man talk about a slap in the face to the President. I mean don't get me wrong, Thomas has to right to express his opinion and all but his hate for the President is that high that he wouldn't support his team on a very traditional event. They mention in the article that some Nascar drivers refuse to meet the president (which doesn't surprise me considering most drivers are deep rooted southerners).

Who the **** cares if some celeb or athlete refuses to show up to the white house.

I'm sure you would, however, I don't think he is into male bondage. ;)

Was that a homophobic attempt at a slam? Point was, the man has intelligence drive, and is a success.... He'd be a good hire for a company, hardley an "idiot" as you claimed.

Our national champion Dallas Mavericks team was there a couple of weeks ago. It looked like they were having a blast!

Texas is pretty far south.

Awwww did I strike a nerve? For what he did, yes, he's a partisan idiot.

Don't you own a company that helps protect things?

A goalie would be a natural fit. Same mindset.

I'm going to hire Zdeno Chara to fire pucks at Reverend's company.

Again, inferring I am a homosexual in an attempt to insult me, seems, rather homophobic. perhaps you should refrain from that nonsense. Thank you.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that it's the color of his skin that makes the traditional respect for the office impossible for some Americans.

Wait, did I just here someone scream out, "You lie!"?

You are way out on a limb.

I have no respect for Obama because he did not earn the office that he holds.

Look at his background. Is there anything there that would tell you he would have been able to handle the office? Of course not. A one term Senator that did very little during his time, and he didn't really accomplish anything in his life before that.

I forgot to mention the trash that comes out of his mouth blaming everything on the Republicans no matter what the event or what the speech was meant to say.

It has nothing to do with the color or shade of his skin.

Tim Thomas may have chosen to avoid the White House trip but the entire team has chosen to avoid showing up to play tonight's game against the Washington Capitols.

He won the election, he earned it. I've not been a big fan of the results, but he earned it by winning.

Jarome Iginla comes to mind. The offset of blacks in Ice Hockey has more to do with logistics and geography than skating ability.

Oh I know they exist, don't get me wrong, just saying that it isn't hockey that blacks focus on. One, it's an expensive sport as a parent, and two there's no focus on it in black culture. All the black hockey players I can think of are Canadian where it's breed into you no matter what color you are.. :)

Tim-

Yeah, that was about the sloppiest the team has looked since October... And Thomas wasn't even in the lineup

So Michael Jordan is a partisan idiot?

So, did Former Chicago Bears Hall of Famer Dan Hampton. I'd only visit Obama's White House for a $25,000 appearance fee (autograph included). Being Dan Hampton was from Chicago, that's ones got to sting.

Don't really care to be honest, however regardless of who the president is I think when you're invited to the White House, you go.

I think what Thomas did was a little juvenile but meh, it's his life and I'm not going to lose any sleep over it because I have more important things to worry about.

Like Gingrichs ex wives.

It's only insulting on my part if I thought you were a heterosexual. I don't.
