    (sorry for the thread-jack)
Yesterday was a perfect example: Planning a surprise 21st b-day party for a female soldier was more important than clearing the foot of snow off the 300x300ft landing zone.

Male soldiers are never "focused" on the "wrong" thing?

    Who's in charge?

    Sometimes I wonder that also.

That's more of a lack of discipline than a female problem. I hope your chain of command did the right thing in repremanding those soldiers.

I'll tell you what....My view on Gay marriage is the same as Obama's

1 Obama has gone on record extensively that he is AGAINST gay marriage as a policy but is also against DOMA and a constitutional amendment

2 Obama is for civil unions and equal partnership rights

I agree on all counts which is the very least most would accept when their position is not one based purely on hatred of the gay population.

I think that the bible, Old Testament and New, teach that homosexual behavior is a sin and it is wrong. Not a crime, which has civil/criminal penalties, but a sin. An offense against God. But the same Bible says that the Church only has the right to judge/admonish/instruct, etc those who are in the Church, i.e. have signed on the dotted line and in essence agreed on the rules. Not those who are outside.

Carrying that a step further, on the civil side, I don't have any problem with what consenting adults want to do with each other as long as they are the only ones affected. Homo sex in someone else's bedroom doesn't affect me, so big deal.

In large part this kind of reasoning is very much a part of the problem. Many people (not specifically you ric27) want the law of the land to reflect religious ideology.

Those of us who view the bible as not much more than historical-fiction would say that's exactly why people pick up the "separation of church and state" mantra and run with it.

If you have a religious issue with gay marriage then don't marry somebody of the same sex. Just like if you have a religious issue with Catholicism you don't belong to a Catholic church.

When laws are written based on a book of religion we are treading in places that become very dangerous.

Obama has not said that homosexuality destroys families or whatever bull**** you're now backpedaling from.

And? He's wrong. "Separate but equal" is inherently unequal. We've already resolved that particular question in this country.

Which is nice, but you still seem to be unable to draw a distinction between gay sex and gay marriage.

There is no harm done to you or anyone else by two men marrying eachother. That alone is enough reason to allow it. In fact, there are tangible benefits to allowing same-sex marriage.

He touched her over her bra and underpants, she says, and guided her hand to touch him over his underwear
