Kentucky Senator Rand Paul (R) Detained by TSA.

Re: Sen. Rand Paul ‘detained’ by TSA in Nashville, TSA denies

Is there any special reason a congresscritter should be above yet another law?

It does if you click on the link and read the rest.

Yep. He was never arrested, simply not allowed to board the plane. He can get to Washington by horse and buggy like they did when the Constitution was written.

AMEN.

Or not go at all...prolly do less harm.

Nope. But I was surprised that Congressmen have to go through TSA. I thought they all had ways around that. I wonder if Pelosi and such need to go through TSA.

It's not so much that I think that Congressmen should be above the law, but rather that the law in this case is wrong.

Was that sarcasm?

Actually I have often mistaken people's sarcastic comments as serious, I seem to have a hard time picking them out. And I really wouldn't want Kucinich detained. My goal is the maximization of freedom, not its destruction.

Another assumption about the privileges of Congress shot down.

If so, then you and Kucinich would not see eye to eye very often.

Nope, but I wouldn't try to silence him in anyway.

Well, I like this part. For twenty minutes, they can feel like ordinary Americans. I'd say it'd do most of them good.

I don't want to silence him. I want people to stop reelecting him.

Ok, am I losing MY mind...or are you losing YOURS? B4 I posted that, I went to the article and searched for the word Washington and didn't find it. Quickly read the article and saw no mention. Nowwww, I went back and carefully read the article. Where is it?? Copy/paste?

I just want to know if I need to decrease my meds. ;)

Until another plane is bombed, I'd say they do okay. They could do better, but the whining about TSA in this country is astounding to me.

I hate to sound billboardish, but, the terrorist win every time they effect our freedoms.

Re: Rand Paul detained by TSA

Do what? We had security before 9/11. Some slight changes to that without creating an abusive government agency would have sufficed.

What is Paul's suggestion? He wants to defund TSA to save money as well. So what is it replaced with, because anything that's done will cost money.

No, increase your meds! That's always the solution. ;)

Re: Sen. Rand Paul ‘detained’ by TSA in Nashville, TSA denies

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but ABC News notes that detaining Paul was a violation of the Constitution:

The U.S. Constitution actually protects federal lawmakers from detention while they’re on the way to the capital.

“The Senators and Representatives…shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same….” according to Article I, Section 6.

There is also an interview with Paul on the website, and based on what he's saying, the TSA we acting like asses.

Re: Rand Paul detained by TSA

The apple doesn't fall very far from the tree, does it. I guess there are special rules if you are a Senator, at least in his mind. Not, apparenlty, in the minds of the TSA.

Which only demonstrates that the TSA is operating outside the boundaries of the Constitution of the United States of America.

Rand Paul is being a dramatist, and picking a quarrel to highlight an issue - you can argue that he is being a drama queen if you like, or argue that he is using his position to highlight an infringement of our rights if you wish. Either way you shoot is immaterial to the fact that he is also legally correct.

Airline Security. Sky Marshalls, for example - paid for by the respective airlines.
