Fix only that which is worth fixing. TSA is not worth fixing, it is a questionable assault on our freedom at best. Government run authoritative branch aimed against our rights and liberties for the sake of "safety", but how much safer are we? Moderate changes to what was already in place would have accomplished as much as TSA and all its overbearing rules and questionable practices have produced.

Do what? We had security before 9/11. Some slight changes to that without creating an abusive government agency would have sufficed.

Re: Sen. Rand Paul ‘detained’ by TSA in Nashville, TSA denies

The story tells me two things. Firstly, the law at least usually applies to the powerful. This is good. Secondly, Paul feels the same feelings that many people share, that the TSA is far too invasive, and it does not have the right to search us as thoroughly as they do. Good on Paul.

Second, he was not arrested. I'm quite sure he was free to leave the airport.
Yep. He was never arrested, simply not allowed to board the plane. He can get to Washington by horse and buggy like they did when the Constitution was written.

Is there any special reason a congresscritter should be above yet another law?

Nope. But I was surprised that Congressmen have to go through TSA. I thought they all had ways around that. I wonder if Pelosi and such need to go through TSA.

It's not so much that I think that Congressmen should be above the law, but rather that the law in this case is wrong.
