Re: Sen. Rand Paul ‘detained’ by TSA in Nashville, TSA denies

Not allowing someone entry to an area isn't arresting them, neither is escorting them from a place they have no right of access to. He deprived himself of the right by not complying with the process.

Because private industry did such a bang-up job beforehand, right?

There are lots of things that are "out of hand" but sometimes there's this strange option I've heard of, "fix it" rather than "kill it."

Re: Rand Paul detained by TSA

Ron Paul renewed his call to eliminate the TSA, part of his efforts to rein in government spending. He and his son have been frequent critics of the TSA and its pat-down checks.
    And do what then?

This is the important stuff. We can’t get lost in discrimination. We can’t get lost in B.S. We can’t get lost tearing each other down. I want to make a point here that no matter what you look like, where you come from, how you worship, who you love, how you identify, and yeah, how you run, that if you have good public policy ideas, if you are well qualified for office, bring those ideas to the table, because this is your America, too. This is our commonwealth of Virginia, too.

He was not allowed to leave or board his plane. He offered to go back though the screening machine again, but the TSA agents refused. He refused to be fondled, so a standoff occurred. I thought Senators could bypass airline security checks.

I would hate to be the next TSA official to testify before the Committee on Homeland Security, which Paul is a member of.

This monstrosity of an organization needs to be ended. I constantly see waste in their program.

What doesn't the TSA understand about the Constitution? The story above clearly states he was going to Washington.
When has TSA in general given a damn about the Constitution?

At least they ddn't try to frisk Ayn Paul or John Gault Paul. All hell would have broken loose.

Wow, this was a great time to make a point about how either the TSA was going overboard, or how even Senators have to be treated like everyone else.

Instead, you find a point about how Senators get special privileges.

He wasn't named after Ayn Rand. It's just short for Randall. Though the choice of nickname is peculiar.

Wouldn't it be nice if they could keep him indefinately?
