Exclusive: Gingrich Lacks Moral Character to Be President, Ex-Wife Says

Who, in their life have not ever been a "sanctimonious hypocrite", as you say? You?

I am pretty sure I am a hypocrite on at least a weekly basis and maybe more times than that. I think most folks are. My example of being a hypocrite (and probably shallow) today? I was in the Dollar Store and was in line and there was an older guy in front of me digging out change so he could get even bills back: in my head I was thinking why in the hell don't you hurry your ass up! Then.. I get to check out and was given my total and was diggin in my change purse for 12 cents so that I would get back an even number of bills. lol..

And with that I am off to bed as my pills kicked in a while ago and should be slpeeing.

The ethics charges against him were completely bogus in the first place, and pure partisan hackery...

Newt Gingrich Cleared - Now How About a Refund?.

So can we get a refund for the Clinton impeachment too, since he was cleared?

Damn! How many more Gingrich Morality threads are you Lefties going to start on here? Scared to attack his platform, fiscal record, or policy proposals? Afraid they might outshine those of "The Annointed One"? What's the matter, three years of "Hope and Change" still isn't standing up to what the GOP candidates are proposing? Much fear I sense in you.

No, just sick of assholes bashing America about moral values and then cheating on their wives and leaving their children. You approve of that?

More like ten thousand of them called The Stimulus. ;)

Or Solyndra.

Hey, you're back!

Didja notice that someone posted a link showing that Gingrich was fined and found guilty?

Then why did the Republicans force him out of Congress and fine him $300,000.

The repubs in the house much like today were under furious dishonest attack from demo's in challenges to their own seats in elections. What is paramount to this today is that

1. Nancy Johnson (R) - Was under attack for her own seat as chairman of the committee investigating these false charges from Bonior, and nearly lost her own congressional seat due to rhetoric from demo dishonesty.

2. The IRS after their own investigation stated this:

Well, after a 3.5 year probe, after Newt paid the $300,000 fine, the IRS announced on February 3, 1999, that it found NO IMPROPRIETIES IN THE TAX FILINGS of Gingrich and the sponsoring Progress and Freedom Foundation. The IRS said the principles taught in the course were not of use only in political campaigns. "The ... course taught principles from American civilization that could be used by each American in everyday life whether the person is a welfare recipient, the head of a large corporation, or a politician."

Simply put, the demo's did what demo's do and that is when they can't win, they smear, and this was just one example of that.

Doesn't have a thing to do with Republicans forcing him out of office for ethics violations.

Listen, I won't tell you that Gingrich made a lot of friends while speaker. He ruffled feathers in his own party, as much as demo's. And when the RINO's saw the opening to force him out they took it. At the time true conservatives were listening far too much to the dishonesty of liberals in the democrat party as to what they should do. Alot of that still goes on today, and shouldn't...

- The vote in the House to reprimand was 395 to 28 - which means that a majority of Republicans also voted yes.

- 3 of the 4 Republican members of the Ethics Committee also voted yes in the committee.

- Gingrich admitted publicly that he had violated ethics rules, and lied to the Ethics Committee.

No more pathetic whiny partisan excuses.

Didja notice that the bogus charges were a lie?

Nope.

The IRS's investigation only involved tax issues, not all the charges, and the special counsel for the Ethics Committee disagreed too.

Well, that's not exactly true now is it...I mean on its face, and with someone reading it that doesn't particularly care for conservatives I can see why you would frame it so, but it just isn't honest in the full picture of the time.

So what ? Newt submitted an accounting that improperly listed the donations from one sponsor. That was the "lie". However, he was cleared by the IRS in 1999 of all base charges. He was also cleared in a judicial review. So he "lied" to a witch hunt, led in part by those in his own party whom he had taken to task for their own "good old boy" ways.

He's beholden to no one. And he kicks ass. Those are his "crimes".

So you're claiming that those three facts I posted aren't true?

Are you really that desperate that you just deny easily-proven facts?

As has already been pointed out, 84 charges were filed. 83 of them were dropped. the one that stuck was a process charge of misleading the ethics committee, which with the later IRS ruling, technically showed even that 84th charge to be what it was, a bargain to put an end to the purely partisan muck raking by demo's in an election year. It was all BS, and Gingrich was cleared of wrong doing. But I understand when the sunlight of time evaporates liberal specious claims, that you must hang your hat on process...Ask Scooter.

That you cling to a ridiculous process bargain from 15 years ago makes me re asses Newt, and your utter fear that he will run against Obama.

So don't go blaming it on Democrats when the majority of Republicans voted to censure him AND he admitted his violations.

He was never censured. Demo's wanted that and didn't get it.

You can try to claim the charges were bogus all you want. You're still wrong, but I'm not interested in a thread about that that would go on forever.

Just don't go around saying this was a plot by the Dems. Most Republicans voted to censure Newt too. It was totally bipartisan.

Giving up so easily? No, unless you are going to argue that David Bonior was a republican.

A majority of Republicans voted to reprimand.

3 of 4 Republicans on the Ethics Committee voted to reprimand.

Feel free to continue your bull****, but you can't change those facts.

Yep, so was Charlie Rangel (D).....recently...Did you think he should have been censured?

No, I simply mistakenly said censure instead of reprimand. I wasn't saying anyone should have been censured.

So don't go blaming it on Democrats when the majority of Republicans voted to censure him AND he admitted his violations.

So tell us the "violations" that he admitted to ?

David Bonior filed 75 ethics charges against Newt. 74 were shown to have no merit and were tossed. The remaining one was made into two. Read and learn:

The first 'charge' from the ethics committee is that he "may have" violated tax law by using tax-deductible contributions from nonprofit organizations to teach an allegedly partisan college course.

The second 'charge' from the committee is that, in the course of the investigation, Newt provided false information to the committee. And what was this "false information?" Newt testified that the above contributions were in fact made by those organizations to "Renewing American Civilization." He filed papers that stated the very same thing. This is never a fact that anyone was trying to hide. But one paper filed with the committee stated that those groups did not make the contributions. For this, there was an uproar about Newt's ethics, and he was fined.

Basically, Newt was fined $300,000 because he didn't read his lawyers' documents carefully. I could really get into the hypocrisy of this in light of the fact that people want to excuse Bill Clinton for lying under oath, (maybe if the course Newt had taught was about SEX the Democrats would feel differently) but that's not the point of this article.

It was j-mac who tried to blame the Dems, which is what I was responding to.

If you aren't playing that game, great.

Clinton was found not guilty. Cleared, in other words.

So do we want to continue this game, or just leave the facts to speak for themselves?

Yep, and on its face it looks pretty bad, unless you actually look back at the times, and dig into the motivations of those voting for this. Now, they have been laid out in this thread, but as usual libs like yourself ignore that important factor in light of making an argument based on just a fragment of the truth. It is utterly dishonest.
