Perry Files Emergency Motion to Get on Virginia Primary Ballot(edited)

Perry Files Emergency Motion to Get on Virginia Primary Ballot - Businessweek

    And good riddance.

With any luck, the people of Virginia will now be able to vote for whomever they please, and not be forced to vote for Romney as some undemocratic elements would like to have happen.

If this appeal is successful, it will be a victory for democracy in the commonwealth of Virginia.

You seem to be under the impression that Perry, Gingrich, and Santorum are not in on trying to get Romney the primary victory.Gingrich for example is damaged goods and purposely keeps shooting himself in the foot. Then you look at the fact they failed on their part to get on the Virginia ballot.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

This is all pretty idiotic. They cant bother to follow the rulers of the state election committee and cant manage to muster the required support...and that is somehow a violation of their rights? What...they didnt bother to read the rules? Their campaign people didnt think it was important enough?

    This ^

They, those that did not get on the ballot, have no excuse.

You know what guys? Maybe, just maybe, it's not about Perry or Gingrich and their rights. Maybe it's about the people in Virginia who want to vote for them.

It's called democracy. Give people a choice.

Maybe just maybe the individuals should have been smart enough to follow procedure and give those people the 'choice'. Whining about 'unfair' because you are too inept to follow basic rules is a pretty good indicator of what kind of leader you would be.

They have a valid issue. The question is can Virginia have a law banning people running for president asking Virginians to vote of him/her unless the Presidential candidate is a Virginian? Is Virginian outlawing Perry, Gingrich and Santorum from asking people to sign their petition allowable?
Does that law date back to the Civil War ideals and Virginia attempting to outlaw yankees from running for President in their previously Confederate state?

Is there some reason why Perry was unable to qualify for the ballot? Was there some family emergency, some illness that prevented his staff from meeting the relatively easy requirements for ballot qualification?

It doesn't work like that in any state. There may be people in Virginia that would like to vote for Rin Tin Tin in the Primary. Should we put him on the ballot, too? States have to have a way to control ballot access - otherwise the ballot would look like the phone book.
